What film did you watch last night?

The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies

I found the first Hobbit movie to be a bit meh. The second was a bit more meh. So I never bothered with the third until now. Even more meh! After LOTR, these a just so bad. Expected really, taking a small children's book and making an 8-9hr movie out of it. Not a lot good to say about them really, and I'm not a fussy movie watcher! It looks like a tv movie, the green screen/cgi is terrible, as is the script, quite cringeworthy.

One good thing though, it's made me want to watch the LOTR trilogy again but will wait till I'm done watching all the Harry Potter films with my daughter. Then I'll introduce her to the fellowship.

Yep it's awful.

Hobbit:

First - 4.5
Second - 5
Third - 3

LOTR:

First - 9.5
Second - 8
Third - 7.5

10 Cloverfield Lane - 5/10

I was really enjoying it and then it went full on stupid.

London Has Fallen - 5/10

I turned my brain off and it was great. The odd time my brain turned on I was aware how utterly stupid it was haha!

Nerve - 5/10

Cool concept. could have been much better.

So yeah, lots of films I've found average haha!

T2 Trainspotting,

Not sure tbh. I enjoyed it, but nostalgia was the tonic. As a self contained movie its just ok :/

I'm not annoyed by it, But then again I'm not enamoured by it.

Logan - 8/10. Really enjoyed this and the more adult theme. However:

This is a super hero movie and Wolverine and Professor X are 2 of the best. To have one descend into dementia and the other become a drug addicted drunk does them a great disservice after all their world saving efforts.

I'm not asking for a full on happy ending (oo-er) but like i say it wasn't a fitting end to two amazing characters.

Logan - 7/10. Like the above poster I really enjoyed this lol, my new second favourite X-Men film featuring wolverine (behind Origins) and really liked the increased violence, it worked great for wolverine (and makes me long even more for a Deadpool crossover). Sadly something that didn't ruin the film for me but hurt my enjoyment of it somewhat was that prior to it's release there was a leak which turned out to be false that Liev Schreiber would be returning as sabretooth, that turned out to be false as the Twitter exchange between Schreiber/Jackman had been misunderstood, but while watching this film I couldn't help but think about how it would have been better with Schreiber's inclusion.

Dune

Like I did with Bladerunner, I decided to delve in to a 30+ year old classic that I've never seen (but played the video game excessively in my youth).

Loved the 80s sci-fi vibe, and all the references that took me back to the days of slaughtering Harkonnen with my sonic tanks :D
The fact that 'The Captain'/Mr Hyde is Paul Atreides was a bit of lol too.

7/10

Alien Covenant. 6/10.

Special effects was pretty good I guess, but the story line was rather predictable. I also thought most of the characters were pretty average.

Reprised Hellraiser II Hellbound.

After all this time funny rather than horrific, especially some of the cheesy dialogue where it looked as if the actors had forgotten their lines and were improvising!

Watched on Blu-ray, picture a bit grainy and not worth putting amp on for the sound.

King Arthur - 7/10
Enjoyable Guy Ritchie fantasy romp, that manages to merge LotR, Game of Thrones and embellish it with some Nazi imagery and then somehow have Camelot just next door to the east end of London.

Not his best, but did the job.

50 Shades of Grey - 1/10

Rubbish. Gets a point for giving me a semi. Honestly one of the worst films I've ever seen. If I was watching with a lady friend I might of thought differently though haha!

Nocturnal Animals,

Apart from the slightly disturbing opening credits I really enjoyed this. Couldn't fault the cast or the performances of all involved.
Well worth watching.

Amelie. I've not seen it in years. It's brilliant. The story is whimsical as anything, so might annoy some, but meh. It looks amazing, though. The use of colour is really striking.

John Wick Chapter 2 - 9/10

More amazing gun battles and fights. I love the world it takes place in. Loved it.

Agreed. It betters the first in every way, and I loved the first.

I particularly liked how it touched on the underground world and ruling hitman families and hope they feature more in the 3rd. Each with distinct style and methods :)
