What film did you watch last night?

Wer (2014) - 7.5/10

Very unique werewolf/wolfman movie. Ending goes off a little but is still alright but the rest of the movie I thought was a very interesting take on the genre and i've seen a lot of them. Definitely worth a watch.

Gravity - 6/10.

Forgot how incredibly stupid Sandra Bullock's character is. It's like the sci-fi equivalent of Wendy from The Shining.
How did she even get allowed to go into space in the first place?!

Lovely looking film however! :)

Some 5 to 7 out of 10 rated movies this weekend, but all worth a watch for their own unique reasons. They won't set your world on fire, but if it's a Sunday, and you've got an empty Netflix/Prime playlist, then check these out.

Aftermath
Arnold Schwarzenegger stars as a husband and father who has lost his way after his family is killed in a plane crash as he's on his way to collect them at the airport. The writing is not great in this movie, and it deserves it's 6.5 or whatever on IMDB, but it's a decent drama movie up until the last act I felt. The whole corporation = evil notion is drilled down in this movie, and at the end of it you don't really end up feeling for the main character who has lost it all.

A cure for wellness
A mystery thriller about a financial corp CEO who retreats himself to an institute in the Swiss Alps in order to be "cured" of his worldly issues. Dane DeHaan and Jason Isaacs are the familiar faces in this. The company sends an underling to bring the CEO back from his madness and handle pressing matters or else the company is in ruins. All is not as it seems in the Alps, however...

I quite enjoyed this,it's predictable where the story is heading, but you still keep watching to see what other freaky stuff they were up to down there.

I'd give it a 6.5/10. An ideal Sunday movie.

Wilson
Woody Harrelson as foul mouthed Wilson. Always watch anything with him in it. There were some cheesy lines but mostly funny adult humour fills the script. I don't know if Woody suits this particular role, but I think it works to some degree.

Well not last night but yesterday morning. For some reason I woke up at 4.30am and couldn't get back to sleep. So I banged on Netflix and watched a movie called Knock Knock with Keanu Reeves. It wasn't bad but was pretty silly and the girls were psychotic. 6 out of 10

Then... I saw a recommendation for.. The Green Inferno. A lot like Cannibal Holocaust really. Group of college students go to the Peruvian jungle to stop the rainforest being destroyed along with an indigenous tribe... Who turn out to be cannibals  They end up getting captured and the nomming ensues! Pretty graphic and shocking in places but pretty run of the mill shock horror by Eli Roth. 6 out of 10 as well.

Get Out

Eughhh, just so good! Not so much a horror as it is a bizarre thriller. There's few Directors with whole careers in the genre that can build suspense like this, so for Jordan Peele to do it first time round is a massive achievement!

Thought it was just all so refreshing. Had some really interesting things to say and I was musing for a few hours after the credits rolled.

Sausage Party
I wasn't expecting much, I figured crude, unsophisticated humour without any real thinking required, which is actually fine by me. That's almost what I got...except it lacked in the humour department with only a few laughs scattered throughout. 2/10

Agreed. I saw this at the cinema on a whim and it was great!

Have you seen Don't Breath? Well worth a watch if not.

Life (2017) 6/10

It started really well and had this Carpenter 'The Thing' vibe going on.

I also felt the build up of tension in the movie was great until :

Ryan Reynold's character got killed by the 'thing'

After that it all went downhill into a poor man's Alien movie.

Predictable ending as well.

My wife was on the edge of her seat the whole way through it and loved it. She does like the film Flubber though, so we need to discount her viewpoint.
