What film did you watch last night?

12 Strong (2018) - 4/10

A typical American war film with typical American heroics, characters, military tactics, heavy handed morals, winning against overwhelming odds and over the top explosions and combat scenes.

The action scenes are well put together and the setting is used well, but the story is too fragmented and the relationship between the American Captain and the Afghan warlord could have been developed more.

Overall, the film is too “Hollywood” in its presentation to have any impact or credibility, even though it is based on true events.

Thor Ragnarok is riding high in the IMDb 250, which I find slightly baffling.

There’s like three good marvel films and the rest are tripe.

I really enjoy most, if not all

I know some are weaker than others but even those have there moments.

I could happily sit and watch them all leading up to Avengers: Infinity War

Ragnarok is up there with Guardians as the best of the Marvel movies for me. I love their take on sci-fi and would be happy if they dropped everything on earth and fully invested in it.

Dunno about that.
I thought it was alright. Yes, a little too much humour perhaps and I'm not sold on the Hulk's new personality - entertaining as it is.

Can see why people wouldn't like it though. It was better than GOTG2 at least.
They really need to figure out an alternative to the smashing up a horde of identical enemies finale thing.

Thor 1. 8/10. Loved it

Thor 2. 7/10 decent enough enjoyable

Thor Ragnarock (I hope this is the end of standalone Thor films...sad ignominious end..)

4/10

And I'm saying that as a sci-fi marvel fan.

An absolute train wreck of a film that tries to be something it is not. Someone mentioned it felt like a "scary movie" take on Thor and I agree wholeheartedly. It tries to go down a silly comic route completely and yeah some jokes are funny but jebus.don't make the entire thing slapstick.
Felt like a cross between flash Gordon(80s camp movie) scary movie and valerian city of a thousand planets.

Ruined characters of Thor and Hulk Imo. OK so they want to do more with Hulk in this film (he is the main supporting act here) but aside from comedic one liners it just fails utterly. Felt like the director did not have a clue how to portray these characters....ohh see how in Avengers Thor and Hulk had this comic buddy interplay....let's stretch that one moment to an entire film......lol.This Thor movie is embarrassing.... The fart joke at the party is that really how Marvel want ppl to see it?

Soo very very bad.
Glad I didn't go to see this now, because I also love 1 and 2.

Sounds bad.

"Darkest Hour" - Brilliant (although not quite perfect) film, but Gary Oldman is just amazing - Give that man an Oscar!

Saw it last night. Not just Gary Oldman but just about every actor in there was brilliant. Only thing that let it down was the ending that seemed a bit rushed to me.

I wouldn't be surprised to see another post 1940.

The film really pulls you in to the era - very tense.

Thanks, only just heard of this and just watched the trailer. Gary Oldman looks great in it. What a great actor he is. I think his best performance was when he was in Leon.

So I watched Scarlet Johanson in Ghost in the Shell fairly entertaining 5/10 but they butchered the plot from the 90s anime. They tried to capture a few of the key set pieces but everything seemed a little forced, new backstory tried to overcome the race swap but not quite the impact of the original.
