What film did you watch last night?

Romantic Reunion (2019) (aka The Turkey Bowl) - 6½ / 10

I like American Football, so I like movies based around American Football. This one is a rather predictable and a little silly, but with a few decent laughs and an overall feel good end to it. Don't watch it for any football action, it's more guys playing in the back yard than anything else. Kinda fun, but as I say, rather formulaic. I'm surprised it's rated as high as 7.3 on IMDb though.

Knives Out - bloody excellent! 8/10 and a UHD purchase for sure.

Bloodshot - Fun action nonsense, 6/10 for the action if a bit unoriginal (setup is almost identical as Robocop but then there's the twist)

AdAstra - Wants to be Intersteller and fails. Looks great, nice SFX and the moon buggy fight is cool. But ultimately boring 5/10

Star Wars IX - I had my expectations on the floor so I was a little surprised this wasn't total junk. Overall better than VIII and more original and interesting than VII. It wraps up the mess of this trilogy in the best way it can, maybe too little too late but a 6/10.

Aliens 7/10.

Last time I seen this, was in some B&B at Blackpool about 8 years old. Where my grandad thought it'd be hilarious to leave it on for me to watch. Still scares me today.

Oh i forgot

Joker - 7/10, very good and an interesting character study of someone falling down the dark hole of mental illness. But it's not the masterpiece everyone is making out to be. Namely because this is not the "real" joker in origin or manner.

It's basically a Taxi Driver remake with King of Comedy homages throughout. I expected more at the end and for him to have a real reign of terror for a few days before he got captured.

I liked the movie well enough, it's just a little overrated at the moment

Only 7/10? This is one of the greats of the sci-fi horror genre if you ask me. At least an 8.5.

Try watching alien covenant if want a reference point. Makes you realise just how good the first two alien films really are.

You're probably right, there isn't much sci-fi that compares. I was in awe at how well done the set pieces are, makes me want to watch a behind the scenes on it.

I have seen both the new ones. :/

It's amazing to think the technical limitations at the time it was made, yet managed to be so effective.

Back then they had to be creative with clever use of props and costume design. These days they just plaster everything with cgi :(

Kraftidioten.

It's Norway, and Ingvar has been murdered because of drugs or something! Nils is grief-stricken and confused until Finn provides a clue that leads him to Jappe.

Questioning Jappe leads Nils to Ronaldo, who tells him where to find Strike.

A brief but eventful interview with Strike reveals that Greven is responsible for the killing.

Marit is angry with Greven. Greven is angry with the Albanians.

Nils visits Egil, who advises him to hire the services of Kineseren. Huyen is upset by this, but it's a moot point because the plan goes awry when Kineseren visits Greven, who is still angry with the Albanians.

Greven arrives at Egil's house, and it doesn't end well. Greven tells his men to kill the Albanians.

Marit visits Greven to shout at him, and it doesn't end well.

Papa is angry because Greven has kidnapped and killed one of the Serbs. Greven realises this was a mistake, and orders his men to kill Geir. A henchman brings Geir's head to Papa, and it doesn't end well.

The Serbs plan to kidnap Rue, but Nils kidnaps him first and sets up a meeting with Greven that doesn't end well.

This witty contribution to the Nordic noir/dark comedy/vegan genre will delight and amuse viewers of all ages.

I rate Kraftidioten 29.97 on the Haglee Scale, which works out as an uncompromisingly brutal 9/10 on IMDB.

Yeah its outstanding really, I was more in awe over the props than anything else.

Sounds good, will add to my must watch list :)

And then watch the Assembly Cut of Alien 3.

:)

The Invisible Man 2020. https://www.imdb.com/title/tt1051906/

I never knew quite what was going to happen next which helped add to the overall impact, making for a very enjoyable viewing experience.

I don't think I've been so jump-scared in such a long time - when she kicked the dog bowl. So effective that it was partially unpleasant.

Alien 3 is just so utterly bleak and depressing :( And the cgi is shockingly bad :(

Alien 3 is great because it's so utterly bleak and depressing! It's the Warhammer 40K of the Alien movies.

Yes the CGI is bad, but I'm prepared to look past that because the story is so good and the characters are all solid.

Hustlers - 6/10

We'd deliberated over renting this on Sky, and saw it popped up on Prime for free so thought we might as well. It was actually very enjoyable. A good story, well told. The girlfriend was dubious but actually stayed awake for the duration so I would always count that as a win. However, rumours of a J-Lo Oscar nom were wildly exaggerated, lol. Didn't see that at all.
