What film did you watch last night?

Boss level 6.7/10
Ok, so this type of film has been done again and again, but this is definitely an entertaining addition to the repeat the same day over and over genre. Frank Grillo is excellent in the lead role and its got plenty of action and comedy thrown in there. Definitely worth a watch.

Cape Fear (The Scorzayzayyy remake)

Surprised I haven’t since this one before. There was definitely a penny drop moment when I realised that this is what the Simpsons was parodying with that Sideshow Bob on the boat episode :p

Quite a captivating film - very odd directing and goofy at first with the bombastic score, then very dark in parts.

Definitely worth a watch.

8/10

Bone Tomahawk 2015

Slow burn western with great performances from the cast and some excellent cinematography.

From what I'd read before watching, I was expecting something different to what I got. Although I tried not to read to much as to spoil it for myself.

I think I was expecting some kind of zombie horde style massacre at the climax of the film.

Either way, I don't think it's a mixed genre film, it's still as western to me. All be it one with less clichéd adversaries than your average John Wayne film.

Great Blu-ray transfer too.

Watched 1917 and Le Mans 66 over the weekend.

1917 - 8/10 brilliant beautifully shot, not as brutal as the wife feared. Simple story very nicely told quite moving and emotional. The look of it was amazing and I appreciated the trick of the seeming single shot with compressed time and distance to convey the feeling.

Le man '66 - 9/10 one of my favourite films this year. Maybe Bale's accident was a touch overdone but loved the touches of authentic British slang. Really good cast mains and supports turned in great performances a few liberties were taken with the story to improve the narrative it seems but really tight well told character focused plot. Loved it. Also it look amazing the CGI where used was generally good if not quite perfect.

One scene in this film scarred me for life :p

The Banana Splits Movie - was hoping for a decent B-movie as good as Hobo With a Shotgun, but sadly it's nowhere near as good as it could have been. Well disappointed.

2/10 - and one of those points is purely for it being The Banana Splits.

Hhmm watched I Care A Lot after seeing good reviews/mentions in here. Started off well but kind of got silly and predictable, was OK.

We watched Greenland straight after, and I came into that with pretty low expectations but I am a sucker for a Butler disaster film. Pleasantly surprised, one of his best for this genre.
