What film did you watch last night?

The Vault (2021)

A heist movie that kept me entertained and on the edge throughout some tense moments. Yes it does have its flaws like hacking into something with a cable tester lol, but it was well acted and well directed I thought.

I'd give it 7.5/10.

Well just watched the first 10 mins of the animated version of wonder woman. Pi**** all over the film for violence. The body count is bordering on commando levels, decapitations the lot.

I have been watching the Alien Anthology in chronological order of the timeline and been spotting bits I missed watching in release order as didn't put two and two together in various areas. I also was able to pay closer attention to a lot of details that might slip by and thoroughly enjoyed so far!

Prometheus (2089 – 2093)
How it all began, we don't know the Engineers' reasons as to why they seeded humans on Earth or why they intended to destroy it but a bit of digging reveals a working theory that because humanity put Jesus as the figure of worship later down the line, they weren't too happy about that and wanted to start a clean slate.

Alien: Covenant (2104)
David's intentions were clarified here, I had not watched the later timeline movies (below) for several years prior to watching this movie, so at release I lost track of what was actually going on and why David was doing what he was doing vs Walter and why they were fundamentally different as it is explained during their conversation.

Alien (2122)
The timeline point where any references to the earlier happenings stop and the "Alien" that we have come to know begins and we follow the mainline story from here...

Aliens (2179)
Alien 3 (2179)
Alien Resurrection (2379)

Cannot wait for Alien: Awakening now.

Watched it with the wife on the back of your post - and we enjoyed it. It felt like the team who made Money Heist were behind it :p.

It definitely had one of the funniest interpretations of hacking; looking intensely at a Matrix screen whilst reeling off random numbers. Brilliant :D.

Sometimes the ridiculous tech stuff like that makes it more entertaining lol. Good thing the movie itself was enjoyable though an done well!

I have not yet seen Money Heist, a mission for this weekend!

I think if you liked The Vault, you'll likely get along with Money Heist. It's a little silly in parts but definitely enjoyable and entertaining.

Yep some of my cousins have been raving about it so I added it to my watchlist a while back just never got round to it. Lupin is superb too if you haven't seen it

SAS: Red Notice

Dire! Had to just stop watching after about 45mins. It takes a lot for me to that, it's the first time in a long while that I've actually quit a movie due it being utter crap.

Like some others previous, i watched The Vault (2021), mainly due to Freddie Highmore on the cast list as he usually belongs to a pretty good film/show. Was definitely a bit outside his normal role and i found the film surprisingly decent... not got much rewatch capability but a good way to kill a couple of hours!

Ha we watched this the other day.

All those atrocities carried out without any face masks....

I did really struggle to pin point exactly what I didn’t like about it, but I suppose just didn’t make the characters likeable / relatable enough and was just a little too slick / far fetched.

Pet Semetary (1989)

The acting in this film is really flat from the male lead but the story shines through. One of the better horror films I’ve seen recently and certainly on the more ominous / harrowing / bleak side with its tragic story. A couple of dated / goofy visuals lighten the mood a touch, as does the bizarre and jarring ‘pop rock’ credit crawl ending.

Also interesting to see that this is where South Park get their “old country man who warns people about danger” character from :D

8/10

Payback 1999

After only ever seeing the theatrical cut on TV, I bought the Blu-ray and watched the directors cut for the first time. It's quite different to the film I remember seeing on TV. Many of the scenes are completely different, some actors are missing or have reduced screen time. Other memorable scenes are missing and the ending is completely different.

Definitely worth a watch, but I think I prefer the original cut.

7/10 for the directors cut.

8/10 for the theatrical cut.
