What film did you watch last night?

Started watching The Mummy (2017) simply because Tom Cruise was in it, and I very often enjoy the films he stars in.

However, either I wasn't in the mood for it or it just didn't grab me, so switched it off. I should have read more about it before checking it out.

Instead, I opted for 3096 Days: https://www.imdb.com/title/tt1667355/?ref_=fn_al_tt_1

Based on a real-life event. For a movie, it makes for a gripping and chilling story, but it's terrible to think that this sort of thing goes on.

All main characters play their parts very well; several times I wanted to give the abuser a taste of his own medicine!

Killer Elite (2011) - 6/10

A mixed down to earth serious and gritty military thriller about revenge and conspiracy.

Good cast and action scenes, although the pacing could have been better and the shift from the assassinations in the first half to the more traditional thriller aspects in the second could have been smoother.

The plot and setting is pretty generic overall and some of the lead character’s personality traits didn’t suit Statham’s no-nonsense persona, but the 80’s style looked authentic and I was entertained throughout.

See How They Run (2022) - 8/10

A quirky whodunit heavy inspired by and serving as a tribute to “The Mouse Trap”.

It’s an entertaining mystery with lots of theatrical style and glamour, as well as drama and scandal.

Ronan does a brilliant performance as the enthusiastic but naïve police officer and has some great one liners, but overall, I think it could have been funnier and had more depth to it.

Prey, really enjoyed it. As good as the first predator film, and makes a welcome change to the rubbish the franchise has kicked out before.
Sacrilege!

For me, Prey was 'OK', but wasn't anywhere near even remotely as good as the original movie. A very average 5/10.

Days of thunder, really enjoyed this one, Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman, great soundtrack and driving scenes, 7/10 nice cast !!

I do like Days of Thunder. Agree with your rating.

"And what do we do? We end up looking like a monkey ******* a football out there." ;)

Just watched "The Man Who Knew Infinity" about the Indian mathematician Ramanugan. I had never heard of him and I'm not sure why I watched the film but I was crying by the end. I suspect some liberties were taken with facts but the heart of the film is true - a man who almost instinctively understood pure mathematics in an utterly extraordinary way but faced an uphill road to be accepted. He is a legend in India apparently.

Terrific moving movie about a real person. Highly recommended.

(I found it on Youtube)

I'm the opposite, couldn't stand him when he was younger, wasn't until the Departed that I started liking him as an actor.

He started off as the hearthrob character but he quickly established himself as a very good actor with a wide range of roles. It became a running joke for years when he kept getting snubbed for Oscars despite putting in quality performance after quality performance. I would argue that hes one of the best actors of this generation.

One of my favs that. Seen it loads of times and never fails to entertain me. The ending when they started running... Quality  also I think it's the only film Nicole has actually spoken with her native accent.
