What film did you watch last night?

I wouldn't, it's atrocious
I was of this opinion on Die Hard 5 when I first watched it. Having just watched the box set back-to-back about a month ago, it's not 'quite' completely awful. There are some decent action scenes but if I had to rate it it'd still probably only be a 4/10 max. I love the first three films and the fourth is probably a 6/10 for me.

I also never twigged that Sauroman isn’t in the theatrical cut - he only shows up in the extended version.
Are we talking Return of the King specifically here? I only have the extended versions of the movies but I'm about 95% sure Saruman appears in The Fellowship of the Ring theatrical version. He was cut from the theatrical release of The Two Towers but appears in the extended edition. I'm not aware he appears anywhere in Return of the King being as he's already dead, but happy to be corrected :).

Saruman is in the theatrical release of Fellowship and Two Towers.

He’s not in the theatrical release of Return of the King at all. In the extended version, he is in there and… well… let’s just say it completes his plot arc! :)

Top Gun Maverick.

Finally got round to seeing this on on TV last night, no where near as good as the first but was never going to be. Quite cheesy as you'd imagine, some decent throw backs but overall pretty meh and glad I didn't waste the money at the cinema now!

5/10

Avatar. My kids haven't seen it so we watched it ahead of a family trip to see the new one tomorrow. The visuals are still staggeringly good and the story is serviceable. My daughter hasn't ever seen Ferngully, Dances with Wolves or The Last Samurai, which helped her think it was new and fresh.
My son didn't bother coming home from his mates house so he's sitting on his own so no-one had to deal with his confused questions.

Thanks. I've just had to look it up as I couldn't remember why there was a fuss about Christopher Lee's scene when the films came out, the answer to which I found on The Guardian :).

Glass Onion 5/10

A mystery where the audience knows substantially less than any other character is never going to be wholly satisfying, but as a silly journey it’s watchable.

Uncle Buck (1989)

Never seen it before, usually movies from around this time are good, and John Candy is usually good but just couldn't get into this at all.

2/10
Honestly I don't know I've ever seen someone say Uncle Buck isn't great?! I grant you, I've not seen it for a few years, but I recall it as a classic.
