What film did you watch last night?

Re-watched Bumblebee and then watched Transformers Rise of the beast.
Overall enjoyed it,I was a bit worried since Travis Knight didn't come back to direct the sequel, since for me Bumblebee was the best live action Transformers movie to date, when you compare it to the Michael Bay movies.
Happy to say the sequel(Rise of the beasts) is a good follow-up to the events of Bumblebee.
My minor complaint is they have shifted from using the G1 design for the Autobots and the sound effects when they transform, the design is a mixture of Bay movies and G1.
A missed opportunity in the film they could have used the Stan bush - The touch as well.
Overall I enjoyed it, now I fancy watching the animated movie again, since it has Unicron in the movie.

Bad Boys 2 - 7/10

Not seen this for years, typical Michael Bay, the highway scene is just over the top ridiculous but loved it. Better than the first movie. Third movie was the weakest.
I prefer the original.. Mainly because Tea Leoni was stunning back then..
Warlock, in memory of Julian Sands. Still a storming little gem of a film.
I remember watching that on VHS rented from the corner shop.. Doesnt he track someone with some eyeballs he cuts out of someone?
Raid 2 - 9.5/10

Those criticisms of the first? Not here. Actually a pretty good story on top of the brilliant action. It doesn't have the 'surprise' factor the first had but that is true of any sequel.
Fantastic Movie, i REALLY love the first but the second took it to another level. If there were 2 movies that reminded me of beat em up games its Raid 2 and The Protector.

I watched Extraction 2 last night... Thought it was a good action flick with some heavy duty action and brutality. 8/10
Although the son was annoying i cant believe that the other guy gives him full access to a mobile phone and that he can remembers his uncles phone number off the top of his head!

Don't Worry Darling - 5/10

Started off well, then lost points on Harry's acting, then more for the twist and then finally for some oddity plot hole's/questions. +1 point for Florence Pugh being awesome, though.

After Extractioning myself x2 on Friday, on Saturday I Watched

Run Rabbit Run - didn't appeal but do like Sarah Snook after Succession. Don't know how I made it through, it plodded and came to a very foreseeable and predictable conclusion. Shouldn't have bothered

Grey Man - took me 10/15 minutes to realise id seen it before :p OTT action film with a well worn plot and unbelievable scenes and stunts, but unlike Extraction (1 and 2) doesn't take itself too seriously - annoyed it (again)

If you want a decent movie with Sarah then watch Predestination. I thought that would be her breakout role - her performance blew me away.

I wonder if Predestination would hold up with the twists and turns these days as that very specific subject has been covered in a few shows/movies since and is more commonplace. Watching with fresh eyes if you've seen any of them might make it feel a touch predictable. However at the time it came out it was certainly a head twister.

Trying to post cryptically to not give anything away :D

No hard feelings. 2023. 7/10

Jennifer Lawrence "sexy" comedy. Its fine its really forgettable but i did laugh a hell of a lot at gutter jokes and slapstick action.
Shes not a bad looking lady and the script/story has her using that to FULL effect.
God i feel old though. Dirty old man old.... shes 32... thats wrong i think.

I watched Rabid last week which was quite good (Cronenberg's second film), very limited budget and relatively few effects but done well.

Then over the last couple of days I've not been feeling great so I've listened to the 4 commentaries on the disc :)

The Heartbreak Kid (Netflix)

I've enjoyed all the Ben Stiller movies I've seen, and this one cracked me up in places, too.

It's been a while since I've laughed out loud like this. The sex scene during the honeymoon was hilarious. :D
LOL, I loved this too. Some hilarious moments. The sex scene.. "BEAT ME, WHAT ARE YOU A PUSSY?"

Robin Hood Prince of Thieves.

One thing I can never understand is why this was filmed so poorly. Almost like it was done on a cheap 1990's camcorder.

After all it was a massive blockbuster yet other films of the time do not look nearly as bad.
It gave me nightmares when I first saw it in the cinema! I was such a wuss when younger! Lol!

I actually think it's a pretty good film.

How dare you! Alan Rickman was the star of the show :D

I love the film and have fond memories but the filming quality is just pants. I just wasn't sure if that was the "patina" they were going for when filming it. It almost looks like a VHS if you get what I mean. The scenery, costume etc is all great but it just looks terrible on digital format. I guess they never did a remaster on it.

Insidious: The Red Door

Hmm, really not very good. The acting and dialogue etc is fine but the premise is just crap - the characters have forgotten the events of the previous films are are just rediscovering everything that we, the audience, already know. Really, that’s it. There is just no intrigue for the audience and it ends up very underwhelming by the end. The scares are of the ‘boo’ variety since there is no tension and a couple of these are laughably lame i.e. ‘a figure jumping up from bedsheets with no consequences’

The characters themselves are likeable and it’s watchable, but overall it’s just too redundant to recommend.

4/10
