What film did you watch last night?

Heart of Stone (2023) - 5/10

A cross between old-school Bond with the gadgets and quips and the modern Mission: Impossible films with the big spectacular stunts and the world-threatening AI plot device.

The plot and secret society is ridiculously silly but the cast is ok, although Gadot doesn’t really have the charisma to be the lead.

The film struggles to maintain your interest or keep momentum between the action scenes but it’s entertaining enough spy fare if a bit on the uninteresting side.

Would have been better with stronger villains and being shorter, but the special effects and globe-trotting was good.

Well that looks like a lot of fun, unless that trailer just has all the best bits and the rest is crap.
I never understand people who say that about trailers. How can a 2-3 minute trailer for at least a 1hr 30min film have all the best bits? So 1hr 27min is rubbish and has nothing of interest?

They pick clips of scenes that give the film a good impression and engage the audience into wanting to see it. Very rarely is a full scene included or any consecutive plot points added to trailers it's all usually out of order or done in a way that suggests the plot but doesn't give it away in most cases.

It definitely can, see the second Fantastic Four film, the trailer for that was pretty good and it turns out that was actually the only good bits of the film.
