What film did you watch last night?

The Nun 2 - meh.

We like the paranormal type of film, The Conjuring etc. Aside from one good jumpscare, the film fell a bit flat. I read that the Nun only appears for approx 2 and half minutes in a 2hr movie!

Also, once it clicked, i couldn't stop seeing Arlene Rimmer.

Went to see Batman Forever at Cineworld. Seen loads of their classic season films now like demolition man, spider man rami trilogy etc.

I don't understand why in these films they still come and check mid film to see if anyone is recording...

As if they haven't been released on vhs, dvd, bluray, streaming and TV for ever

Surely cheaper to buy a genuine dvd of batman forever than a pirated one now

The Silence of the Lambs - 4K Limited Edition Arrow version.

They really don’t make films like this anymore. The look of it, the lighting, the feel. Classic story, classic film. Love it. And this edition looked amazing.

Totally agree, it’s brilliantly tense and foreboding all the way through. You just can’t stop watching

Thor Love and Thunder. How did this pony get green-lit.
The Marvel films have been awful since Endgame but this is the one that finally killed them for me!

Absolutely dreadful film from start to finish - the best part of the whole debacle for me was I had to go and pick a mate of mine up from the pub half way through!

Beetlejuice (1988) - 7/10

Quirky and bizarre with a unique art style and morbid sense of humour.

Great music and special effects of the undead and Keaton steals the show as Beetlejuice, although he’s barely in it.

The plot’s relatively straightforward but the lead couple weren’t particularly interesting characters and the others even less so, even though all were well acted.

The ending felt rushed and overall, it just made me realise how much of this film was rehashed in the sequel.

First Man (2018)

Second time watching it and I still think it suffers from knowing what happens and therefore there's no jeopardy. Not that it should matter, because Apollo 13 is still great and stands up to repeat viewing.

Or, apparently Neil Armstrong was a bit dull in real life, or at least not as comfortable in public as Buzz Aldrin. Which sort of makes Ryan Goslings performance seem a bit one dimensional and it just doesn't carry the film through telling of his personal life away from his work.

You actual feel like you're watching a documentary at times, such is the accuracy of the recreations of the actual events. But it's not enough to hold your interest when there's no scenes with rockets or prototype aircraft.

6/10

Beetlejuice 4.5/10
Last night in preparation for seeing sequel. Not seen it for at least 15 years and it was so much poorer than I remembered, I feel it has just aged badly. Still some funny moments but not that many.
Most of the cast were more incorporeal than the dead, just no substance to either the plot or the characters. The bits in the underworld with the bureaucracy were decent.
The special effects were poor even for a late 80s film, I really disliked the claymation style models. Also Beetlejuice was barely in it.

Beetlejuice Beetlejuice 6/10
It was a better film overall, it just felt smoother. Monica Bellucci doesn't add much to the plot but I did enjoy her background sequence.
The underworld parts still worked ok but not quite as good as the original.

Hellboy (the reboot one) 3/10

For some reason I thought I'd seen this, I definitely had not. Good lord this was an abysmal film. Tonally a complete and utter mess, tried to drop as many characters in as possible. Some terrible accents too. Only Mila Jovovich can actually walk away from this with her head held high.
