What film did you watch last night?

The Crow (2024).

Absolutely pointless and absolutely ****.
You could tell from the trailer I saw before Deadpool 3 it was going be a rancid turd of a movie.

I mean, if we're all totally honest, the original isn't exactly the greatest film ever made. It probably sold half it's tickets on the back of Brandon Lee's death during production. It then went on to be something of a VHS hit and cult film status years later.

Shrek - 3/5

Story still stands the test of time but the character models and animation look horrific now, has not aged well.

I watched A Bug's Life a few days ago and that came out 3 years earlier and still looks incredible.

Robin Hood - Prince of Thieves (Extended Edition). I didn't actually know there was an extended version so wasn't expecting that from the Blu-ray I bought a few months back (which didn't mention anything about extras). Not sure I like the extra scenes really and they definitely detracted from my enjoyment a little. 7/10 with the extended scenes, 9/10 without.

I've not seen it but I seem to recall reviews saying it was solid enough? I could be old and got it all wrong in my memory of course

It could maybe have given it a 4 or 5 but for every plus point of the film, aka Gyllenhall's acting was good as always, it was negated by someone's who's acting was equally as terrible. The original is a bit naff if you rewatch it, especially Swayzes version of The Claw. So remaking it was never a good idea.

Anyway as soon as McGregor came in it lost all credibility and the whole thing stank. You have to suspend an immense about of belief on the human ability to handle brain injury because even after 10 punches to the face and a plank of wood they all seemed perfectly fine.

I've still got my extended edition of it sealed since I bought it years ago lol. Dunno why I've never watched as I loved the film.

I love the theatrical release. The extended makes it a bit of a darker film. According to something I read yesterday the extra scenes were taken out of the theatrical release because they felt it gave Alan Rickman too much screen time and made him the star (which he was really anyway as his portrayal was just brilliant) instead of Kevin Costner.

You can never have too much Alan Rickman.

Blink Twice (2024). - Psychological thriller film with a group of people set on a mystery island. Hard to say more without ruining it. Purely decided to watch it as Channing Tatum was in it and the description sounded good. Hadn't heard of it or even seen the trailer before today. It turned out to be really good. A few other reasonably big names in it, but it's a lowish budget film apart from that. A tiny bit hard to watch in places, and a couple of twists I didn't see coming. Quite a unique story.

7.5-8/10

We just watched that last night, it is very good but all the reviews comparing it to another movie (Get Out) spoilt it a bit as you knew something a bit like that was coming.

I'd give it 8/10 though.

Bourne Identity- 7.5-8/10- Remember it being slightly better when I seen it in the cinema when it first came out but still a really good watch.
Bourne Supremacy- 7-7.5/10- A wee bit "less good" that the 1st but plenty to enjoy.

Mulholland drive. Been meaning to watch this even years ago but never got round to it.. or I may have watched a clip of it but not the whole thing .

Loving the chemistry between Naomi Watts and the actress with the black hair (Laura harring ) both are fit

The film itself though Is a complete head messer .

8/10
