What film did you watch last night?

I watched the first one and thought it was ok. But my friends didn't want to watch the second so didn't have a chance.:(
only saw the first one last night thought it had a least one of the best jump scares I can remember ... must have be great at the cinema.

Fell asleep watching Alien last night, the mrs woke me up as they were trying to remove the facehugger.....

I did feel while watching it, anything modern is so difficult to have the slow pacing/ tension build up to what is comin,g as you know. Love this film though and the 4k looks great.

I seen Romulus at cinema and echo many of the comments of the above.
I re-watched 3 a few days after and that was worse and slower than I remembered.

The Apprentice - 6 - 10 "Good"

Chap playing Donald T did a great job. Jeremy Strong was also good. The end was a bit of a fizzle but I think that tends to be the case when these biopic style films are released and the subject individual isn't dead.

Smile 2 - 7.5/10

This one was surprising as I didn't really rate the first despite the acclaim. But this I thought was one of those few horror sequel's that is better than the original. Mainly due to the main character Naomi Scott's powerhouse performance. Sure 15-20 minutes could have been trimmed off but the great performances really made it worth a watch.

Do like the look of the trailer for this, watched the first one the other night and was alright, nothing special.

I thought Jeremy Strong was fantastic. I enjoyed it. I would give it 7/10

Had a fair few flight hours so got through a few films I'd either not yet seen or revisted:

Fallen: Really good cop whodunnit/thriller type - 8/10
Joker: Lost interest the first time I watched it, gave it another go, the second half of the film makes the first all the more worthwhile - 8/10
Drive: Lost interest in this the first time around as it was just an arty farty load of rubbish, same again this time, turned it off after an hour.
Alien (1979) Director's cut: Was really getting in to it when we touched down, will definitely have to finish it. Never seen it before and i suspect this is the start of a rather long Alien marathon for me :p

Alien Romulus 3/10

Having watched all the franchise to date, this has to sit bottom of the pile.

The CGI was really poor.

The opening scene was so poorly rendered, I thought it was someone playing a console game and it would transition into a proper film.

So much green screen and don't get me started on all the old tech and extractor fan ducting everywhere.

Meh.

Can you give me some pointers one the sequence pls? Where does the whole alien vs predator thing come in to it?

Only ever watched a handful of scenes of the alien franchise but keen to sink my teeth in.

Cheers :)
AvP doesn't really sit into the Alien movies. It almost a separate set of movies on their own. 2 to be exact. You can watch them without really knowing anything of either Alien or Predator movies although there are a lot of references to the retrospective stories.
