What film did you watch last night?

One life, based on a true story about evacuating children from Europe before the second world war officially started. 9/10 with a great performance from Anthony Hopkins and Johnny Flynn.

Agreed. Looking forward to checking this out.
I loved it (Anora). I think it deserves all the praise and it’s not standard awards fare by any means (I quickly get turned off by generic Oscar bait movies). The performances are fantastic, too.

Made me want to watch Red Rocket again.

I watched Heretic last might with hugh grant, good psychological horror, nothing deep but i think he definitely has more range than just rom-coms. 8/10.

The Polar Express (2004)

Watched yesterday afternoon, one of my wife's favourite Christmas films.

For me it's ok. I suppose it was quite groundbreaking in it's day, but it hasn't aged that well. The animation and movement is very unnatural at times, especially during the hot chocolate sequence. I image it was also far better in 3D in the cinema than it is in 2D at home.

5/10

the rock isnt a movie star. hollywood are just trying to propagandise him into one. much like that Zen woman from the latest Spiderman films.
The thing is Zendaya can act, I can see why people like her. I don't get the Rock in any role at all, he's always terrible and easily replaceable.

I would rank it 7/10 too but for me i am unsure who this film is aimed at, its got monsters etc so for kids under 8 its a no go. so for me comes across as an odd fit as a xmas movie.
As much as it's Santa, the main story doesn't really give me Christmas vibes. I wouldn't say the monsters were particularly scary though, so kids 6+ may be fine with it as long as watching as a family.

I think the rock fits the type of films he’s in and is passable. Now Dave Bautista I can’t fathom how he gets films, he can’t act at all as far as I care.

Heretic- 6/10 was ok, I do like the way Hugh Grant is going recently.

Red One - 6/10, again was okay but I feel as though needed more family humour in it?

Joker: Folie a Deux (2024)

Went in with an open mind and for the first thirty minutes I thought I was ok. But as it went on I just got more and more bored and found it very slow and tedious.

I also would've prefered that the songs were performed in full and not just cut short or interupted. I also woul've prefered that Phoenix's voice had been dubbed with someone that actually sing or he mimed to the original artist.

Lady Gaga's character was under used as a whole story didn't really go anywere.

If you intented for the first film to be a stand alone affair and you then make a sequel, you should've at least progressed the characters arc on significantly or

not sort of left it open that someone else was going to take over the Joker persona at the end.

On a postive note, the production design, costumes and cinematography were all top notch.

3/10
