What film did you watch last night?

Anora 7.5/10

It was good but I really lost interest in the last 15 mins or so. Middle section of the film was great though. I think the ending felt a little forced and unearned.
90 minutes would have been plenty and would have prevented a lot of unnecessary fillers IMO.

I just watched that last night as well and I agree, it didn't need to be 2hrs+

I enjoyed it, though not quite as much as The Florida project.

Watched Seven last night on iTunes, it had just upgraded 4K Dolby Vision. Enjoyed the film but it's one of those films/games/TV shows that I wish I could erase from memory and experience for the first time all over again.

Back to the Future, a rite of passage for our kids who had not seen it.

It was really good and I had forgotten all the little links and Easter eggs throughout as well as laugh, sk8ing and cool guitars.

Onwards to II and III this weekend

Carry-On - What a complete crock of crap, luckily had on in background whilst I was working so didn't give it much attention but utter trash generous 3/10.

She Said 7/10

Tough to rate this really, it's an interesting film but it suffers like a lot of 'real life event' films from a lack of drama, because in the end a real story is rarely as exciting as a made up one or 'based on' story. It also suffers from the case not being closed yet which is a bit anticlimactic. I think both Mulligan and Kazan were fantastic, two actresses I've always really enjoyed their work. Didn't realise Andre Braugher was in it, that was a pleasant surprise, his last film role apparently :(

Transformers One - 10/10

Well damn. I never saw this coming. Loved transformers since I was an 80's kid but this film I dived into without knowing a thing - and came away with a huge grin at the end.

Literally everything I wanted from a Transformers film was here. Ever since we were told that Optimus Prime and Megatron were once like brothers I always wanted to know what caused the falling out during their cybertron days and this answered it.

The film was so well handled. All the characters were superbly handled and it was great seeing them before they became Transformers. D-16 aka Megatron and his voice over Brian Tyree Henry absolutely shine in this and at the end I had a lot of sympathising towards Megatron because I felt his actions were...right. At one point in the film when D-16 kneels down nexto the remains of Megatronus Prime you can see the flickering of yellow-orange occuring in his eyes which had me gawping in shock.

I was laughing at the jokes - the silent "transform and roll out!" was hilarious yet when the film became serious at times it got the tone just right. My only annoyance was that Shockwave and Soundwave feel like wimps in this. Shockwave iirc was a second power wise to Megatron.

Watching it on an Atmos setup with a Hue Gradient strip on the back of my TV made me realise that this was another 'Spider-Verse' film in that it sounds utterly fantastic and is a superb at painting my massive white living room wall with colour.

Y2K. It's fairly light but has a few laugh out loud moments. Nowhere near as touching as Kyle Mooney's other feature Brigsby Bear, which I loved. But Y2K is worth a watch 6.5/10

Se7en - 9 (not 7 ;) ) / 10

Grabbed the new UHD master (new master at 8K down to 4K, with HDR10, Fincher didn’t do Dolby Vision for some reason). Looks awesome either way as it’s such a dark film.

One of my favourite Fincher films too. Love Morgan Freeman in it, though I do find Brad Pitt’s character annoying. But, I suppose that’s the point to a degree.

Excellent film

Poor Things - 7/10

Very strange film but entertaining and the pacing was good. Was very surprised that my partners attention was generally held as well as she generally hates anything artsy.
