What film did you watch last night?

Se7en - 9 (not 7 ;) ) / 10

Grabbed the new UHD master (new master at 8K down to 4K, with HDR10, Fincher didn’t do Dolby Vision for some reason). Looks awesome either way as it’s such a dark film.

One of my favourite Fincher films too. Love Morgan Freeman in it, though I do find Brad Pitt’s character annoying. But, I suppose that’s the point to a degree.
Off to cinema to see it on Tuesday coming. I'm old enough to have seen it in the cinema on it's original run. Watching in screen 1 in the Savoy in Dublin and you could feel the whole room jump when
the guy starts coughing in the bed

Get Away aka Svalta. Very average.

Transformers: Rise of the Beasts. Spent my time on my iPad browsing the web and watching YouTube videos

Trancers II. Thank god I watch one good film this weekend.

The Substance, complete poo.
I honestly can't believe Demi Moore got an award for this rubbish.

Now I see what you mean.

The Substance - I have no idea what on earth I just watched or what it was trying to achieve. Ending was literally a mess. 0/10.

Watched Civil War … dont know what to make of it …. It had me absolutely hooked when watching it ( i like photography ) , but I wouldn’t say that it was amazing acting and typically Netflix-ish. Visually compelling at times, but i felt it lacked at the end. I almost uneasily feel that it in some way could be construed as a justification / call to arms / propaganda to incite civil uprising in the US.

6.5/10

Better Man - 8/10
To be honest, this has no right being this good, but the way it’s done and the choices they made really lift it up a notch. Biopic of Robbie Williams from his early years through his stint as Gary Barlow’s backing dancer through to becoming the UKs best selling solo artist of all time, with not much other than the ending being sugar coated.

Gets very dark at times as it deals with his various demons and the blend of fantasy musical elements and concert recreations help the story zip along in a clever and creative way.

I had no idea he was the UKs best selling solo artist of all time, for some reason I figured that would be someone like Cliff Richard or Elton John or George Michael or maybe Adele even, you learn something new every day !

Got me doubting myself - as far as I can tell by "best selling uk solo artist" it's total sales in the UK - Adele and Elton John and the like globally have sold more - but Robbie never cracked the US. He's definitely had the most UK solo no 1 albums of anyone.
