What film did you watch last night?

Harry Brown - 8/10

Good film, and what can't Michael Caine do well. Do brutal violence too. Good stuff.

Ninja Assassin - 11/10

Story was a bit rubbishy but who cares, the shadow jumping ninjas with mental weapons and slicing people into pieces was awesome. Cracking in HD!

Both on Sky Premiere atm.

Last night I want to see Delicatessen ( http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0101700/ ) as part of a 'Vive Le France' thing going on in Brighton at the moment. It's an extremely funny black comedy that had the whole cinema laughing raucously, it made for a really good atmosphere and everyone had a lot of fun. I really recommend seeing it with some friends and a couple of glasses of wine/beer :)

Burried, superb film I thought, 9/10 - having claustrophobia issues myself the film made me feel very, very uncomfortable, I have to say.

Definitely confirmation, if it was needed, that being burried alive deserves to be on my list of most unpleasant ways to go. :p

The Other Guys.

Very funny, not a huge fan of Will Ferrell, and some great lines. Not just funny lines from the main characters either.

7.5/10

Also watched Buried last night thought it was really good.

Did it make you feel really uncomfortable too? Boy! it did me, to the point where I was shuffling about on the sofa, wanting to look away or turn it off, but I just kept telling myself ''it's just a film you stupid boy, he's not really stuck in there" :D

Glad I watched it though... - without spoiling anything - the whole bit surrounding his employers got me feeling really angry aswell, purely because I can imagine real life going exactly like it did in the film.

I've seen two great films recently, this and Threads, both of which I don't think I'll ever forget, or ever watch again for that matter :p

Finally watched the last version of "I am Legend". I'm so glad I didn't pay money to see it in the cinema because it's rubbish. But it did make me listen to Bob Marley again, and I now need to reread the book for the first time in thirty years. But yet again Hollywood films a great book and throws away the whole central premise, AND the whole point of that book.

M

I don't know why they even needed to make the connection with the book; they could have come up with those ideas themselves (and they did?). They must have been desperate for an angle to sell the film.

I watched Red last night and it was very enjoyable. The music style and editing were a bit off-putting at first and didn't seem to match what was happening on screen (it also reminded me a bit too much of Knight and Day), but it grew on me a lot as the film went on, and John Malkovich was superb in it. 7/10. Also watching the extras really made me realise how much CGI goes into films that you don't notice.

Watched two films yesterday:-

Star Wars Episode II Attack of the Clones - My son's choice and I wasn't really watching. Now I am a huge Star Wars fan and have seen the films a lot. But when not really watching it hits you how awful the dialogue is! The acting I suppose is OK but it sounds so stilted, everyone just waiting to say their line after the other has finished. Anyway music/sound effects meant that it still sounded good and of course looked good. 4/5

The Bicycle Theives - Well bit different from Star Wars this! 1948 Italian film where a man with a young family and no money gets a much needed and very hard to find job, providing he has his own bike. He has to pawn his bedsheets to get his bike back from the pawnshop but then starts his new job. No surprise that his bike is then knicked. What makes the film is the following hour where he desperately (along with his 7 year old son) searches Rome for his bike. Popularly held as one of the best films ever made I have to admit that it held me rapt but then finished and I got on with life. It was powerful and moving but just a little slice out of life, nothing momentous happened and that was it, waffling on here. I would recomend a watch but I know that a lot of you would be doubly turned off - it has sub-titles and is black and white! 5/5
