What film did you watch last night?

Went to the cinema to watch 2012 last night - overall it wasn't too bad. Pretty much what I was expecting from a disaster flick, three things did occur to me though:

1) Just how many times are we going to "product place" advertise for Sony?

2) Just how many tight scrapes can you get out of in one movie?

3) Cant start the engine till the doors are closed? Thats a pretty serious design flaw imo

Over last couple of nights:

Seven Samurai - Excellent film though 3hours 20 mins.
Quarantine - meh was ok but predictable
The Big Lebowski - Excellent. Thought John Goodman was great as walter.

Law Abiding Citizen.

Very entertaining. Of course it's been done before and better (se7en for example), but this definitely is worth a watch.

7/10

Yeah me too, it was ok I guess. First half at least, went down hill for me from there. And the conclusion. I won't spoil it, but it annoyed the hell out of me.

I now have a dilemma, i have 2 movies that i could watch tonight and not enough time to watch both of them, so which do i go for?

1) Law Abiding Citizen

2) Twilight New Moon

Please bare in mind that the wife is going to be watching too.

The first one... but I'm biased as I wouldn't even consider your other suggestion!

Persepolis - Brilliant story of a girl growing up in Tehran then going to Vienna, then back to Tehran. The box says it's charming and funny but overall its about as funny as stabbing yourself in the kidney with a screwdriver. Having said that it's well worth a watch but is animated.

How To Loose Friends & Alienate People.

I like Simon Pegg a lot but this wasn't the best. Also I must be showing my age when I found myself watching Gillian Anderson more than Megan Fox when they shared the screen. 2/5

Yeah the more I think about that film the worse it gets in my memory. As I said it was highly entertaining but past that it's best just to watch it with your brain switched off.

100 Feet
Horror-ish movie by Eric Red. Worth watching for one bit :) Just glad the awful Michael Pare played a silent onscreen part (a ghost who likes to use his head ;) )

I watched: 'The Cell'

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0209958/

I've seen this film a couple of times before and always thought it was pretty decent. I'm not sure why so many people have a low opinion of it, and the only conclusion I can come to is they simply think "oh, that J-Lo is in it, she's a singer, she can't act, therefore it must be rubbish!" and this thought seems to bypass their actual experience of the film to the point where even if they enjoy it they still tell other people it's a bad film.

That's not to say the film is perfect. In fact the only really good bits in it are the 'dream state' parts, everything else is either a second rate Se7en, or a cliché sci-fi flick. However the inventiveness and the imagery of the dream state sections are so good you can easily overlook the more mundane parts.

Overall I think it's definitely worth a watch at least once, because you will never see anything else like it in a film, there are things in it which are truly unique, and I think it should be given credit for that.

6.5/10 - I'd like to give it more, but if a film is only half good, I can't really give it much more than a half score.
