What film did you watch last night?

idle Hands - available on netflix

Anton is a teenage stoner who, one Halloween season, realizes two days after the fact that his parents have been beheaded. He is even more disturbed to learn that the culprit may be his recently demon-possessed hand. With the help of some fellow young drug abusers, some sharp objects (used to disembody several body parts), and a demon hunter (Viveca A. Fox), he may possibly restore some normalcy to his life.

9/10
I have no idea why I like this film so much, but watched it dozens of times. There's no scary bits and no belly laughter points. But for some reason I think it's great. One of those I can't explain it and I expect most people think its pretty rubbish.

[Arlington Road]

Am I right in thinking that it was Tim Robbins' plan right from the start to get Jeff Bridges involved and make him deliver the bomb?

From what I understood, Tim Robbins moved to the property (opposite Jeff Bridges), specifically for the bombing. As soon as the bombing was done, they put the house on sale and are moving out.

Lol you may have wanted to put that in spoiler tags...

I don't think Tim Robbins had Jeff Bridges in mind the whole time. I always got the impression that Bridges became the perfect fall guy to frame for Robbins the more they got to know each other- i.e. Bridges had a reason to be vengeful against the FBI for the death of his wife (i.e. motive), clearly was still emotionally vulnerable, had easy emotional leverage, i.e. his son, and even better, turns out he's conveniently into all that terrorist/extremist stuff with his lecturing, thus supposedly giving him the 'know how'. But then again maybe Robbins had scouted him out and that's why he specifically moved to that area.

It's an awesome film, one of my favourite horrors/teen comedy things. Reminds me of the evil dead 3.

The Amazing Spider-Man!
I thought it was pretty good and I quite liked Andrew Garfield as Spider man, more than Tobey Maguire anyway.. He looks about 18 but he's actually 28

Brazil.

Wacky, funny, clever, wacky, dark, thought provoking, wacky. Still reading up about it now, think this is a film that'll stay with me for a few days.

Tbh I was never a fan of Brazil. It was just like a bad rip-off of various other works, all twisted into an eclectic bad dream.

I'm currently watching Sucker Punch, which (according to Wikipedia) was supposedly inspired by Brazil, but I'm not seeing the influence at all tbh.

John Carter of Mars.

Now I don't know if it’s because I had read so many bad reviews about this film and maybe this meant my expectations were set very low before I started to watch it but I really enjoyed it.

I thought the story was ok and the acting wasn’t to bad though the woman playing the princess was a bit poor.

All in all a fun film. 6.5/10 above average.

Watched 4 films over the weekend:

NEDS - 6/10
Not as good as I thought it was a few years ago but not too bad. I still don't quite get what the ending was supposed to represent but oh well.

The Men who Stare at Goats - 6/10
Some funny moments but some rather dull moments with not much point to them. Enjoyable though.

Dog Soldiers - 9/10
Still one of my all time favourite films, haven't seen it in years but as good as I remembered it.

The 'Burbs - 7/10
Never seen this one before but thought it was really funny in parts although starts off too slowly.

Love that film too, I used to watch it quite a bit although haven't seen it for what feels like ages... Might have to give it watch.

Jessica Alba looks incredible in it also:D

Over the past few days I have watched...

Full Metal Jacket don't think anything has to be said about this, it's great.

Black Hawk Down which is maybe a little bit more of a marmite film that FMJ, but I love it and was surprised just how many actors I recognise now I didn't when I watched it before.

Continuing the war theme watched Jarhead which I hadn't seen before, it was alright, I'm not sure it was on the same level as the two above for me but was a perfectly fine watch.

Last night for something totally different I watched The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel which I really enjoyed, some great acting talent and a nice film that didn't take much watching, was pretty long but didn't particularly feel it.

LOL I have watched a right couple of stinkers on Lovefilm over the last couple of nights for fun...

Lake Placid 3... ROFL.. Terrible CG on the Crocks... But gets 3/10 because you see nakedness in the first min (Lady bits Mmmmm) and Its got Michael Ironside/Colin Ferguson in it.

51... Errrm really poor indeed.. Its Like Area 51 were given a £6 a year budget by the government :D But its got Bruce Boxleitner in it 3/10
