What film did you watch last night?

The Mist. Laughably poor! It's based on a Stephen King novella, so I wasn't expecting much, but even by this low standard it was full of epic fail.

The plot (painfully predictable from scene to scene; you could spot the twists from miles away), the acting (more wooden than a Christmas sale at Bob's Wooden Wood Barn for Lovers of Wood during "Wood Week"); the dialogue ("It appears we may have a problem of some magnitude"; "Don't go out there! There's something in the mist!" )... oh dear, it was all so horribly awful. Even a B movie would blush to be this bad.

And I swear: if Toby Jones hadn't shot Marcia Gay Harden when he did (which was STILL at least an hour overdue) I was going to fly over to the States and do it myself!

The Machinist, really really enjoyed it. For me Christian Bale's most impressive performance alongside The Prestige.

Was interesting seeing the life of an insomniac schizophrenic :)

8.5/10

Office space, never seen this little gem before, was suggested by a friend and it was brilliant absoloutly loved it.

Yes Man.

It was alright, if a bit over-rated. The film to me, often felt like it was pandering to a stupid American market, and some of the acting was often quite crass and unconvincing, as was certain surreal parts of the story. I know the film's a comedy, but I think it would've been better suited with a slightly more serious edge to it as Carey has been fantastic in such films of late (Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind and Man On the Moon, to name a couple). It felt like Carey was reverting to type in this film: he didn't know whether to be the serious guy or the moron from Dumb and Dumber (incidently, I do love this film too - just highlighting the difference in acting styles).

Still, it only cost me a few quid and is definitely one I'll watch again in the future when the mood takes me. In my opinion, the film was perhaps a little condesending and certainly nothing new or exciting in its message. In trying to sell its theme, it often repeated the banal and obvious whilst piggy-backing on a outrageous story; if only life really were like this. So, I guess you can say that I don't know why people were waving its banner so furiously. I'm actually a little concerned that it would take a film such as Yes Man for certain people to open their eyes as that's the only reason I can see for people singing from the hills about it.

I'm trying to give this a fair score and it's actually not as easy as it sounds. Overall I didn't mind the film and it did have its moments. I'm sure I'd love it if I'm in the right mood, but nevertheless the above few points do still stand.

Hmm... I shall give it 6/10.

Personally I think it's a guilty pleasure and the ending kicked ass, one of my fave horror flicks.

The ending would have been great if we hadn't been so blatantly led to it in the preceding quarter hour. But the buildup was so poor that the ending was entirely predictable and left no emotional impact (except humour; I was howling with laughter by that stage).

It was little more than an ill conceived attempt to redeem a weak plot by means of a shock conclusion. I was able to predict the whole thing with such accuracy that my wife thought I'd seen the movie before. But yeah, probably one for the "guilty pleasure" basket. Just not mine.

Don't go out there! There's something in the mist!" ...

What do you say to someone when there are unknown creatures attacking people who go into the mist?

Don't go out there! There's something in the mist! seem the most concise way possible of telling people not to go outside as there's something in the mist.

"FOR ***** SAKE YOU ******* STUPID ******, STAY THE **** INSIDE UNLESS YOU WANT TO GET YOURSELF AND ALL THE ******* REST OF US ******* KILLED!! NOW SIT DOWN AND SHUT THE **** UP BEFORE I ******* KICK THE LIVING **** OUT OF YOU!!!"

That's what you say.

It's lame. And the line was poorly delivered.

Wyatt Earp – Great cinematography and a good cast. A little slow and long but if you have the time give it a viewing.
