What have you done to your car today?

:p

I put a new fascia in for my double DIN, replaced the crappy remote lead with a decent one, then put a second one in ready for a sub. Also removed the GPS and DAB wiring for the old headunit which isn't needed and put the new lot in. All I have to do now to complete the headunit install is put in the mic and voice button then finally the DAB antenna.

I sorted the problem of the alarm going off on Dad's Barchetta every time you open a door....by pulling the power lead out of the front of the alarm box in the engine bay. It sits just in front of the battery on the drivers side of the engine, there's a key hole on top for disabling it properly but we don't have that key.

Two things we can learn here. 1 - Fiat security back in 1999 was as much use as a chocolate fireguard. 2 - Like I said over a year ago, I really could'a been a thief.

Reversed down the private road my house is down at 5:30am going to work. Too busy looking at the cars on the right I didn't see the one on the left. Queue lots of crunching and swearing and a Golf that has a rearranged front end.

BMW refused to start yesterday morning.

I washed and polished the Golf the evening before, had had to move the BMW on the driveway and not closed the driver's door properly. Interior light stayed on for a couple hours and killed the battery.

One Super Premium Mega Mega Edition battery from ECP later and faithful service resumes as normal.

It was a pretty naff battery last year and, imo, if the interior lights can wipe it out in two hours then you really really are due a replacement

When the battery was naff last year i charged/reconditioned it a couple times with my dad's Ctek jobbie, which did help.

Now the interior lights are brighter, the fuel pump is louder, the sound of the doors unlocking is faster but most importantly it turns over and starts much faster

Collected my car from Litchfield(GTR specialist) last night and it sounds awesome! Much more of a burble and over 4k it sounds insane. Need to reduce the amount the blow off valves vent as at the moment it sounds like someone letting down a balloon every time I let off the accelerator at high revs.

So are you full bolt ons now then with downpipes and did you get over to the dyno at Powerstaion or not?

As for the BOVs, do they go off at all when you do a full throttle gear change or does it hold the boost?

Just been out in mine and got the low temp warning and low tyre pressure, looks like winter is here again :(

Yeah - injectors, intakes, GTC 90mm titanium exhaust, downpipes, Eibach ARBs, MY11 suspension, GFB blow off valves! Don't think I'll do anything else power wise (yeah right).

The BOVs only vent when I let off the accelerator at high revs, if I'm changing up then nothing vents, if I pootle round town nothing vents unless I put my right foot down then let off without changing gear. Bit loud at the moment for my liking but I can change the amount they vent and spring rate so should be able to get a sound I like.

I didn't get to a dyno but I'm going to check what power it's making as it was mapped yesterday afternoon. I'd love to get down to the meetup but can't justify a 270 mile round trip for it!

I can't see my battery lasting winter unless I start the car every 48 hours, it hardly lasts a week at the moment so the cold will probably kill it off.

Sounds good.

As for the battery, best to pick up a CTEK MXS 5.0 to keep the battery in top condition.

I go away for 4-5 weeks at a time and use them in the UK and USA so when I arrive the cars start no problem. Also stops anything from resetting or the alarm going off when the battery gets low or goes flat.

It even brings old batteries back to life, a friends wouldn't charge at all with a normal charger but the CTEK on Recondition mode had it working again overnight.

This is how I have done mine but with the MXS 5.0 - http://www.gtrinformation.com/tag/ctek-battery-charger/

I've got a CTEK, keeps the battery in a decentish condition but if I forget to plug it in the battery suffers! I left the car standing for 10 days thinking I had turned the CTEK on, I hadn't, and the car wouldn't start. 10 minutes later of being connected to the CTEK, the car started again and has been fine since, I just think the cold may kill it off :(

I'm using the status indicator and extension lead myself, ideally I'd find a way of being able to plug it without opening the bonnet all the time but that means leaving the little plug out in all weather which I doubt it will like.

Should really post all this in the GTR thread :p
