What have you done to your car today?

Some minor tweaks to the Mini and Civic. The Civic for Osram Night Breakers and Osram 4000K LED sidelights. I wanted the colour to match the main lights, halogens were too yellow. Was quite pleased to find 'warm' LEDs instead of ones that are almost blue.
Mini got Osram 6000K LED sidelights and silver coated indicator bulbs so I can ditch the 'fried egg' look. Next up are some Night Breakers for the Mini as the current HID bulbs are mismatched and the colour temperature difference bugs me.

I really need to give that car a clean again!

i went for the OSRAM Night Breaker Laser (Next Generation) +150% for the accord can recommend they are so much better than standard H1 bulbs.

Installed a Carsifi adapter to enable wireless Android Auto.

The car came with wired AA/Carplay on the headunit, and I went to the trouble of fitting a nice, discreet phone mount low down on the dash, with an integrated USB connector - so that each time I got in the car, there was no faffing with wires, etc; I just plop the phone in the holder, push it down, and it connects. That was a fine solution for a month or so, before my laziness forced me to cave and start looking at wireless adapters. I settled on the Carsifi unit after some recommendations. It's currently £75 with a money back guarantee if you're not satisfied, so I took a punt on it.

I ordered last Thursday and it arrived yesterday from China. So far it's great. The box itself is tiny, about the size of a couple of USB thumb drives, and is supplied with a short USB cable and sticky pads. I was able to mount it nicely in the centre armrest right next to the car's USB sockets, so it's completely hidden away. Even with the armrest open it's barely noticeable. It doesn't seem to take much longer to connect that plugging the phone in, perhaps 15 seconds at most. So it's up and connected before I've got my seatbelt on and pulled away. Only done a few short drives with it so far, but no drop outs nor any lag that I've noticed. A big bonus it that it comes with a companion app; it's not mandatory, but it allows you to upgrade the firmware and tweak some settings - one of the key ones is that it allows you to override the DPI setting for the headunit. Upped the default value, which means Android Auto now displays in split screen mode on the headunit screen

I've kept the phone holder in the car, and re-routed it's USB neatly behind the dash cable to a fast charge 12v socket in the glovebox. So now I have the best of both worlds; wireless Android Auto connecting as soon as I get in the car with my phone, even for short journeys, and if I'm going on a longer trip and battery drain will be a concern, I can just stick the phone in the holder to keep it powered. Awesome

It is! Had it in the old car using an aftermarket HU too, it's a much more elegant solution.
Only downside is battery drain; although I've also just got a new phone which has a larger battery and seems to charge more efficiently which offsets it somewhat. Should only need to put it in the charging cradle for long journeys, hopefully.

Yeah that's one of the reasons I am looking forward to a phone upgrade next month because the new Snapdragon chipset in the S23 is gonna be more efficient and battery bigger. The S22 Ultra gets VERY hot whilst using wireless android auto lol.

It's taken 4 years to source rare parts and save up over 8k to have the work done to transform the car to something special for me, large insurance hike due to the risk of ploughing it into a tree. Within 4 months someone takes the front corner off while it's parked up :(

Had the headlights sorted on the Civic, cost me £50 and I've done all I can to improve the lights at night now.

Starting point (with Nightbreakers and LED sidelights already fitted)

Very pleased with the look, there's so much plastic on the front of these that I really feel it transforms it.

Looking good! You can also get a nice sports grill which is a straight swap. I was going to change mine, but with it being a 2008 model, am hesitant to spend extra money on it now.
