What "man jobs" have you done today?

They have a text number so I sent them a text, they replied and got me onto WhatsApp so you don't have to wait around all day for a reply. They first came back with £138.70 .... a £1 discount. So I said no, I said I'd pay £89 or leave and they said OK

I priced up sky but with BT sports it was more expensive per month with no unlimited sim and crappy fibre.

Thanks I didn't know about the text WhatsApp thing, much easier. I went from £64 down to £38 a month

Was tricky due to the slope of the garden but measured twice (at least) and dug out for the deepest side

Mocked up the posts and facing board

Got squared up and post creted them in

IMG-20220408-115640.jpg

Aligned the sides and back for more hole digging

Then started to fill the sides in

IMG-20220408-130811.jpg

Got the sides in and lined the inner walls with visqueen

Looks good, never really thought about how much more work and angled garden is.

Thanks, I'm really pleased with it. Yeah it's a bit of a pain, that's the most sloped part and was a bit of a waste and ideal spot due to the sun it gets. To give you an idea of the slope it's 600mm high at the tall end and 100mm at the short end just 2.4m away
Wow, I felt bad digging out a few inches to level the kids playing slide thing.

My job tomorrow is to investigate a leaky tap, it's leaking from under the sink, but not sure from where. Only noticed as the kids wanted to do some painting (stuff is stored under there) and the tub had half an inch of water in it. Considering that the drip is only every few minutes, it must have been going for a long time.

Unless maybe it's the waste, and it drips more when being run though? I spent ages trying to stop a drip behind my bathroom sink. I'd think it was sorted, but then a week later after draining a full sink realise it had soaked the boards again.

Spent most of today repairing the bathroom wooden windows. I did a full refurb about ~2 years ago, but unfortunately the glaziers putty I used for every other window didn't fare at all well in the hot/humid environment.

I noticed about a year ago when I wiped it that the putty had just become liquid - super, super annoying. The external stuff has cured thankfully.

I did what I could back then, with new child, and dug out what wet rot I could and the putty and replaced it with plumbers gold with a view to fixing it later.

About a year went by and finally - 5 days of being away - I thought it is as dry as it is going to get. Replaced most of the putty with wood filler. At least 3 'builds' to get what I found acceptable. Just given it the first coat of paint. Hopefully it fairs better than the putty!

Next door neighbour had some skip space free so I got a friend over and we moved a bunch of old rotten pallets out of the garden. Along with a dishwasher someone put there in 2012 and a rusted through barbecue... Those 2 were collected by passing scrappies within an hour! Also a fully rotten through railway sleeper and concrete lintel discovered in the front garden.

Took the last of the winter hedge trimmings too and swept the front garden and alley of loads of debris. Much tidier out there now, I can move out leaving it better than I found it :)
