What Restaurant did you eat at last night?

Another superb meal at the Pony & Trap in Chew Magna at the weekend. Razor Clam with bacon, tomato & fennel was superb, as was the dessert of choux bun with raspberry and lemon curd, and lemon curd ice cream. A fantastic meal for £45 per person.

Dishoom last night before the theatre. Paying a food tribute to the Irani cafes of Bombay's past, I'm not sure how authentic the food is, but it is certainly very nice. I was going to say I'm not sure why we haven't been before, but when we left at 6:30pm, there was a queue of about 40+ people, so that's why. Will certainly be back, but another early sitting.

They open reservations 11 months in advance on thye 1st of the month at midnight. I signed up for the waiting list a couple of days ago and just as I was off to bed last nught got an email saying I had a reservation.

We'll make a trip specifically for it, it'll be part of my girlfriend's birthday present.
Please do a write up on it, I'd love to go one of these years.

Martin Wishart at Cameron House on Loch Lomond was excellent. Here is the view down to the loch from Conic Hill:

First, apologies for the pics, it was low lighting and I obvs didn't want to use a flash. The missus had the brighter side of the table. Here is the eight course tasting menu with wine flight hand-written on:

Started with a couple of canapes that I didn't snap, a beetroot meringue with horseradish cream and a seafood crisp with crab and avocado. Both delish. Moved on to the first amuse bouches, tuna and seaweed cornet, and a cheese and onion bon bon:

Second amuse bouche, raw scallop in truffle and soy sauce, OMG OMG OMG omnomnomnom:

Wagyu beef, really fantastic taste but weird texture (smoked eel was punching flavour everywhere):

Strawbs and fennel with white choc:

Cherry and chocolate, sorry about the cutlery but I just dived in and the missus reminded me to take a pic:

Final amuse bouches, pistachio maccaron with raspberyr sauce, salted caramel bon bon, whisky gel profiteroles:

The flavours were surprising and often delicate but well-matched. The wine pairings were sensational. Very expensive but absolutely worth a try if you can afford it.

Looks lovely, will add to my Scottish restaurant list.

Ate at Pitt Cue Co in London last week. First time there since they moved from Soho and we were a little disappointed really. It has lost all of its charm and is now just a good meat restaurant. I had the Mangalitza loin chop but regretted it as it didn't have a great deal of flavour (pork loin never really does), as whilst the meat was cooked perfectly, that meant the fat on the outside was a bit rubbery. A friend had the jowl which I've had before, and it was superb. Lovely dark meat and soft juicy fat - really good. The restaurant was good, it's just not a patch on sharing a bench seat in the small dark basement on Newburgh Street.

Sunday lunch was Elystan Street in Chelsea. Finally got to Phil Howards restaurant (which is on the site of Tom Aikens old restaurant) and had a thoroughly good lunch. Mousseline of grouse with savoury onions, barley and trompettes de la mort to start, a fillet of smoked haddock with a poached egg, colcannon and grain mustard for main, and finally a rice pudding soufflé with lemon and raspberry. Service was good although a few of the team were a little cold. Would like to go back and try dinner at some point.

Last night I had dinner at Bluegrass BBQ in Reading. I don't like counter service when paying restaurant prices but hey ho, that's how they do it there.

The food was pretty good! I had a Southern Fried Chicken Burger, burnt ends and 6 hot wings. The burger was excellent, the chicken was juicy and the crust was very crunchy. The burnt ends tasted good but were a bit cold. Enamel serving dishes aren't a good idea, they suck all the heat out of the food. The wings were not good, they were cold, the skin was chewy and the hot sauce had a very sour taste.

I'll probably eat there again but I want to go to 7 Bone first.

Oh that's a shame. I never got to Pitt Cue when it was in Soho although I remember turning up at 6.05pm one Tuesday evening and being told there was a 1.5hr wait :p

We hit up the Tandoor Chop House on Tues night. Second time there, love the place. Dishoom and their faux-queues can do one as far as I'm concerned!

We had;
To start;
Dexter beef keema naan, green chili & curd
Seekh kebab roll, green chutney & pomegranate

To share;
House tandoor chicken
Masala boti rubbed ribeye
Whole tandoor roasted cauliflower
Amritsari crispy lamb chops (Hhhnnngggg!!! These are amazing)
Black dahl
Seasonal greens saag
Butter naan
Green chili, garlic & mature cheddar naan

The 'dipping' sauces (not sure how else to describe them) are amazing. There's a bright green one that comes with the lamb and chicken which was just lush.

We left not too stuffed (that was between 4 and this time around we sensibly went easy on the starters) but very content. Highly recommended.

I loved Little Pitt when it was opened and totally agree with you on how it is now just a good meat restaurant catering for the City crowd, which is such a shame considering how good their offerings were before. Don't me wrong the quality of the meat is amazing but it's basically another Hawksmoor/Goodmans but specialising in Pork rather than Beef.

I'm taking the missus to Florence at the end of October. I'd appreciate any tips on eats and drinks :cool:

I went in 2015 and discovered a place called Cibreo Trattoria (was a Bib Gourmand at the time, might still be) which served some really traditional dishes, one was a stuffed chicken neck which the girl ordered but when the dish came out the kitchen the waiter didn't want to serve it to her as tradionally women can't eat it or something...
