• Competitor rules

Please remember that any mention of competitors, hinting at competitors or offering to provide details of competitors will result in an account suspension. The full rules can be found under the 'Terms and Rules' link in the bottom right corner of your screen. Just don't mention competitors in any way, shape or form and you'll be OK.

When the Gpu's prices will go down ?

If people don't care about resolution, details, frame rate, just buy low-end stuff, turn down/off settings, keep resolution low and won't cost you that much.

As for being hard to operate a PC... Is it though? If you can handle a phone or any piece of electronics these days, shop online, it won't be an issue to install a game, driver, etc.

Isn't that like saying, 'Oh you're not able to live in a mansion, or at least 4 bed detached, ok well.... here's a tent'
:p

Honestly there are a lot of "tech literate" people with the confidence to operate a phone, shop online, use MS office etc, but I can only say are too scared or can't be bothered to even think about stuff like installing drivers and 'manage' things, let alone actually learn and do it.

A PC needs a 4k bluray player? For what? LOL

For all the movies I own on 4k disks... you know not downloading rips and all that ... as again many do... I like physical media as you are noticing now.

Also the ability to play the latest physical media is important and something a £650 pc cant not do and match a ps5 for all the things it comes with.

Your quote of Poneros post

Maybe direct it him/her then!

If we go down this road - does the console include a mouse and keyboard? The ability to run uhm...office? Blender? Should I keep going? I thought the point was to compare the two purely as gaming devices.

EG . Physical media is so important to you that your case doesn't even allow for a drive to be installed....I give up

LOL..

My system... as you will see at top of the drive bays a lovely Pioneer 4K drive.

"ease of use" Anyone else noticing that people's PC skills are regressing? I see a lot of younger people who have grown up with phones, tablets and Macs and haven't got a clue.
There will become a point when there is no benefit in having more advanced skills because AI and simplified interfaces will be commonplace.

Same could be said for people with hand tools or fundamental life skills.

Hey even us graphics card folk are using AI to make our games perform better!

Really? I managed to build one from this very shop for 635 pounds. 2 TB of nvme, a 6650xt, 16gb 3600 ram and an 11400f. It even comes with a free game :)
Your definition of PS5 beating must be different to mine.

So basically, to sum the conversation so far.

Someone raises a point about the simplicity, ease and cost advantages of console gaming for the mass market vs the PC with the continuing cost disadvantages and host of involved considerations, baggage and headaches to troubleshoot as a particularly valid critique right now of the state of things PC gaming - and folk go on about "but my use case + fancy GPU + unrelated stuff".

Something makes we think we're heading for "Idiocracy". I can see the plants being watered with Prime right now

Yeah, it doesn't involve cherrypicking :D

Does it run the game at ultra? Of course it doesn't. I knew beforehand someone would do just that, show me some graphs run on ultra and compare it to ps5 running on ultra low but yeah, sure, whatever.

Am I now supposed to post a graph where the PS5 drops to 480p or 17 fps? Or are you done with cherryypicking?

@Bencher

better view... of the components.. some got changed like the RAM and cpu to a 5950x instead of the 3950x and some got more added later while completing the build. But the Pioneer 4k drive there..

Yeah tbh "PS5 beating" needs at minimum: 6700 raw GPU horsepower and 12GB VRAM just to match it. Otherwise there will be situations where the PS5 can simply handle more.
You realize that in some games it performs worse than a 3060, right? That's much slower than the 6700. It really comes down to the game, a 6700 will beat the ps5 in 99.9% of games most likely.

I mean, yeah why not.
The console player double takes for a mo, 'that was weird', then gets on with the serious business of playing the game.
The PC gamer (and prob for something far less impactful) goes 'hold on a sec, that's not right, let me twiddle hre, look online there, try ...'

The only reason the console player doesn't fiddle is because...he doesn't have the option. If he had, he would, which by definition makes it a pro, since it's something you want to do. If you really don't want to fiddle with anything, you don't have to. Most if not all games autodetect your hardware and set settings accordingly, no?
