Who here owns a Fiesta ST?

5k, proper disheartening knowing how much it would have cost you to get the MR200 bits on. But still, you've got an awesome new car so it's all good. How are you finding the new ST in comparison? :)

Few bits done today: Gearbox oil change (Castrol 75/90), PAS fluid change (Castrol Dex III), Motul 600RBF brake and clutch fluid change, Pagid rear discs and pads, Front ARB drop links, Lower engine/gearbox dogbone mount, strip and clean brakes and calipers, grease gear linkages, check clutch noise and advise, re-fit exhaust sort blows and hang it properly (because powerflow leek really are rubbish!), full check of suspension, bushes, general car check over for advise.

All it needs is some new front discs and pads in a few K and she's good to go. Bushes are all good, a little bit soft with age but no tears so if it aint broke don't fix it on that score for now. Clutch release bearing is noisy (a rubbing sound when pressed and a rubbing/whooshy sound when pressing slower whilst changing gear, not massively loud or anything) but operation is good so gonna live with that until it gets any worse.

Got given a Clio 172 Cup courtesy car lol coilovers, exhaust, induction, quite a lot of fun! Wouldn't dare own one though, Fiesta is in a different league to drive. Clio has more go above 5k. Fiesta drives great now, everythings so smooth and slick again.

thought id take my Mk1 FiestaST around the block for its weekly drive to warm it up and make sure the brakes arent messed up etc yesterday. Sure enough ABS fault... Damit.

Passed 1000 miles in my Mk2 FiestaST, gave her 3rd wash and this time managed a full wax. Shiny :)

This reminds me that I really need to give mine a wash at the weekend. Poor thing is looking more brown than blue at the moment :o.

One thing I love about the blue though, a quick wash (probably all I will get to do at the weekend based on the weather forecast) makes her all shiny again :).

I thought about these.. but I don't track mine and for the cost of changing the fluid I could just do that every year instead lol.

Mines going in for a shedload of work this week, preventative maintenance mainly, PAS fluid, gearbox oil, brake/clutch fluid to 5.1, new drop links, new engine/gearbox mount, loads of bits and bobs being checked to be done in the next month or two so it's pretty much perfect for summer B road blasts when the time comes :D

Was the gearbox oil change because you felt it needed it due to age mileage, something else.

Or just for those B road blasts as you were getting other stuff done!

On my car news my mot is next week.

I've driven the MK7 for a week now, it's still being run in, as such I've taken it very steady and not taken it above 4k RPM.

Performance wise, low down torque is excellent, makes things very easy on the day to day drive, overtaking etc without the need to change down. I'm fairly limited in what I can say due to the 4k RPM limit I've set myself, but you can feel it's going to be quick once I can explore the entire rev range. Hard for me to say 100%, but quicker than my MR200.

The steering response is brilliant, its very responsive in low speed situations and has a nice weight to it when you're traveling faster.

General build quality is great, feels more grown up, very nice car to drive. Not as much of a sense of speed as in the MK6 with everything feeling more 'solid', and with the torque, speed limits could come and go quickly if you're not careful. :p

Overall, very very happy with the car. As much as it pains me to say it, do I miss my MR200? Purely for the noise factor, yes. For everything else, no.

Sounds good mate, definitely an upgrade in every way really :) I'd still happily buy one if I could afford! Cost effective quick motoring! You thinking of MP215 when it's ran in?

Another mate of mine has one and he's given it death since day one haha! Quite quick when you abuse them, we'll see how long his lasts!

Manbatius, in all honesty it didn't feel like it needed it but the car has done 50k now and it's never been done, so I've done a lot of the stuff as preventative maintenance and I like to look after my motors. With the new dogbone mount, drop links and fluids the drive is very tight and smooth, the dogbone has made a nice difference to stop the car jerking coming on and off the throttle, for a 58 plate Fiesta on coilovers it drives damn good if I do say so myself :)

First 300 miles i tried to keep it under 5k, and off any motorway/DC as cruising isnt that great when running in. I done a lot of engine braking down hills as the extra vacuum is supposed to seat the piston seals better, im talking rev it up to 5k then let the car slow itself down to 2k just from the engine. After 300miles ive done a few rev limit blasts, but not many. Once i hit 1k i been driving like i stole it.

Finally managed to clean and photograph her :D

What's the fiesta st like with the mountune upgrade on it?

I'd say it's pretty similar to the standard ST except you get more power delivery at lower revs... Especially 3rd and 4th. Other than that, a slightly meatier burble when you push it hard :).

Thanks for the info!

Funny enough I did the exact same thing on my previous car at 50k! Also an advocate of preventative maintenance. Sounds like you have the handling sorted!

In other news I am currently looking at tyres, going to need some new ones soon and will not be putting the same Yokohoma's on (partner keeps complaining of it sliding when it rains!)

Also: those Mk7's look nice in Performance Blue!
