Who here owns a Fiesta ST?

Pretty beastly for a first car!

I give it a month before it's in a ditch haha.

I'd hold out for the best. I couldn't handle the annoyance of wishing I'd waited to get what I wanted.

Yeah it's not the usual first car old banger lol , I'm 39 and think I'm a bit more mature and not as reckless these days so won't be showing off.... much ;)

Seriously though I'm a very safety conscious person so wont be going out of my way to try and wreck the thing lol

I'm still undecided ,if only drive the deal would respond a bit quicker I could way things up as to how long I will have to wait V how much extra my impatience will cost

You have waited 39 years to drive so try and wait a little longer to get the best deal. No point in wasting money for the hell of it (I appreciate you're excited). Get the perfect spec and best price and you will feel even more satisfied when you get behind the wheel.

Is this a good deal? Its from a local dealer who can supply it as early as next week but they will have to retrofit the parking sensor

St3
Spirit Blue
Parking sensor
Variable boot floor

£18,890

PCP finance
Deposit £2000
Deposit allowance £1000
Monthly payments £261
9000 miles pa

The only thing it doesn't have is the style pack, I wanted it but id be waiting around a month for one with it from this dealer, I'm unsure if its worth the wait

Its my first car so would prefer to buy local but I don't want to be paying miles over the odds, is there anything else I should take into consideration or ask for , i said I would mull it over tonight and call tomorrow

That isn't great to be honest. I got the same spec (spare wheel instead of variable boot floor though) + style pack but in race red for under £16.5k...

This was from my local dealer as well. I basically kept on at them till they pretty much matched drive the deal.

Also, i would want the factory parking sensors as then you get the park pilot graphics on the sat nav screen which is useful.

As others have said, i am not sure i would want one of these as a first car, especially not brand new.

Drive the deal just got back to me and the monthly payments were only £19 less than my local dealer and final payment near enough the same, maybe Ive missed the boat on the substantially better offers

I forgot to ask how long id have to wait for delivery

I assumed the retrofit would be the same spec as the factory sensors so id need to check on that

I really do want something asap so I can get out in the summer months

Decisions decisions lol

I strongly expect the retrofit sensors will not be the same. They will be Ford x vision sensors most likely and won't integrate with the cars audio/visual system ( ie no park pilot graphics).

I still think you can bring your dealer down more. They really are not giving you much of list at all.

I'm going to phone the sales woman I spoke to and try to get her to knock a bit more off

JBuk, do you want to own out right or just lease for a couple of years?

I'm thinking after 3 years ill probably get something else

At your age I would probably get a 15k bank loan at around 3 percent.

You have a bit cash to make up the rest. Buy it outright and then sell it in 3 years if you feel the need.

3 percent? The cheapest I can see is 3.6% and even that isn't guaranteed.

Bare in mind Fords finance is only 4.3% + a £5-- deposit contribution. Op may be better off going with Ford finance.

Knackered.

Hey chaps, slightly off-topic as it's regarding a Zetec S but this thread is probably the best place for it.

I've been wanting a Ecoboost Zetec S since I started driving 2 years ago, I'm 25 atm. I've been plodding along in my 15 year old Fiesta 1.25.

Anyway my partner has a friend in the Ford centre and has offered me the following deal. He said he's got a stupidly low interest rate and is the best deal he can do. I think it is a cracking deal, but just wanted your thoughts?

14 plate Zetec S, registered last September.
6k miles
Deep impact blue
Leather pack
17 alloys

£1k deposit. £151 a month for 3 years. £6300 guaranteed value after 3 years.

It's been used by a middle age woman that works there since new, and is not a hire/demo car or anything. She has just used it for work and back.

From what I gather it's a £17k+ spec car and I'll be getting it for £12k. I like the fact is has no tax, great MPG, 2.5 years warranty and my car could pop at any moment. Really like it, just wondering if you guys think I should go for it?!

BTW, please no flaming or anything. Innocent OCUK threads can often turn into a sh**storm for no reason.

Well I knew it was in the 3 somewhere :)

If I could get the loan I still would. I'm not sure why Fords finance would be better option. But I'm not experienced in car finance so maybe I'm wrong.

I've taken the dealers local offer as it wasn't much a month more than anywhere else

I didn't want to go the loan route as I was getting a deposit contribution from Ford and I also have the option of exchanging at some point, I'm not sure what works out best financially , probably not a lot in it but for the hassle factor dealer finance seemed the easiest route

Would you not consider an ST? You can get one second hand for much the same price on a 13 plate. Thinking is that you'll get bored of it and then crave an ST so maybe just better buying the ST in the first place?

I did consider that, but to be honest as it's my second car I didn't want too much of a power upgrade from my old 75bhp fiesta. But the mpg, tax, insurance is a big issue for me too.

.
I'm presuming you've had a go in her Fiesta how do u compare them power wise to your ST220? I've never believed that they are only 0.2 secs slower to 60 than the Mondeo considering its a strangled 150bhp engine. I've only been a passenger in a ST Fiesta and while they feel nippy to about 50 it felt weak over that speed as a passenger like the ST220 would leave it for dead.
That shape Fiesta would have been a blast with an engine similair to the new 1.6T with it being so small and light

I had a Fez ST with a few bits on around 165BHP. Nice car, but never once did it feel fast. It's the primary reason I sold. Cracking little driver though! More fun than the Focus on the corners and with that power you could keep your toe down on the twisties too.

A friend had a 185BHP one and it was nippy but again it never felt that strong at the top of the revs compared to my old Type R EP3 as well which felt loads faster than both mine and his Fiesta's.

I use to have my own Fiesta ST some years ago. Look who made this thread :p

The Fiesta ST is slow compared to the ST220. Don't believe the stats you read on the net, the Mondeo does 0-60 in around 6.8seconds where as the standard Fiesta ST is around 7.8 seconds.

Of course the Fiesta is more nimble in the corners but the ST220 just blows it away when it comes to power and rolling speed, well in everything else really.

Saying that though, i do enjoy driving the Fiesta still. Just a little hooning machine... I THRASH it everywhere :D

Its weird that i always see plenty of modded ST fezza's about that look like they can proper shift but on normal 40 roads etc but i can understand as u say that they are lacking at higher speeds and top end rev's due to the engine.

oh yes i have just seen that u created this thread a few years ago. Didnt realise lol.
yeh i considered the Fiesta ST before my 220 as i could see as a passenger that there a blast to drive but with me being on the motorway a lot i went with the Mondeo. There great looking cars though.
Im going to look at a Focus ST225 in a few days and have a drive of one i hope i am impressed otherwise im going to find it really hard to get rid of my ST220. :(
I have ruled out the Mk4 Mondeo 2.5T as there just too big and probably wont even be as fun as the ST220 to drive even if it has the same bhp.

I only had the Fiesta ST for 1 year before i wanted more power but i put over 25k miles on in that year... Plenty of driving.

The Focus ST is a bit of a side step in my opinion, unless you are going to modify it. I doubt you will see much difference in performance. I didn't anyway... Again a bit more nimble but not by much. I think the 220 is very sightly a bit quicker at standard.

Saying that, i would happily own a 5dr Focus ST, but i would get it remapped on day 1. Think 260bhp is achievable by just a simple map. Still turn heads and becoming less common, given at one point they was everywhere.
