EDIT - P.S. Still undecided about facelift lights and whether to bother and also, how do you find 16" rims? Acceleration better?

For me facelift lights are a must, look much more modern. Pre facelift lights really date the car IMHO.

As for 16 inch wheels - I have 205/45 tyres which keeps the rolling radius about the same as stock wheels. Acceleration isn't much different but the car is much better on smaller wheels - seems to tramline less, the ride is much much smoother, instantly noticeable,even as low as my car is with the coilovers! The steering is a little lighter with more feedback. Turn in is maybe not quite as sharp owing to greater sidewall flex, but the car is more progressive and has more feel at and near the limit.

Decided to have a change of plans and have sold my brakes plans are to get 15 or 16 inch wheels so they had to go, should allow me to set the car to the height I want without the front wheels rubbing. Rear spacers will be making a return at some point too.

You posted them up on STOC? Are they really that limited with regards to what rims you can fit on?

Yes I believe so and I'm not sure its just a case of fitting big spacers either. I had no spacers on my pro race 3's but they had an offset of 38 which gave me decent clearance but meant the alloy stuck outwards, filling the arch and also meaning any big bump and the tyre rubs on the end of the arch, by the bumper corner

Fantastic brakes, just a shame they don't fit under smaller wheels.

I think i'm going to go the black wheel route. Just not sure which ones to go for. I'm undecided yet to whether i like the black plastidipped wheels. I'm sure a lot more people have chrome wheels though than black.

I just don't think i can get away with any other colour. Did you think about getting white to match the stripes?

I'm pretty keen on getting some new alloys with no centre caps. Just can't decide on Pro Race 3s or Imolas. (Team Dynamics)

I do about 20k a year and mine are going white! means you just have to treat your car to a good clean more often

Pro race 1.2 looks great on the st, a style that really suits the car, my only issue is that they make the brakes look a bit weedy, too big a gap between spokes for my liking!

Team dynamics monzas on the other hand look gash, the fake chrome bits really cheapen them imho!

Here's a thought for some different wheels which might look good on the st but are a change from the norm:

Braid Winrace A or Winrace Acropolis (got 16 inch Winrace As here)
Oz allegerita (mega light but perhaps the same issue with spokes as pro race 1.2)

57motorsports GO-7WT (something like that, its a touring car wheel used on some Btcc cars that you can get in a 4x108 fitment with offsets suitable for fwd Fords)

Balls to having white wheels on a car that doesn't need them!

It would have been sacrilege to replace the white wheels on my old rallye but they were a complete pain in the arse! And if you leave brake dust on them for any length of time, they need refurbing if you don't want yellow wheels!

Ordered some new pads and disks for the front as I don't have any standard front disks and my pads are very low in the standard calipers

Obviously I'm not expecting anywhere near the same about of braking performance as I have currently but they should do!

They have some Toyo Proxes on which only one is still legal due to the others having gouges in the tyre walls and uneven tyre wear. Would it be best to sell these with tyres or get them taken off?

This weekend i'm finally going to go to where they are stored and i'm going to give them a proper mint up and see what condition they're in.

Yeh even with the Mondeo big brakes up front, they look weeeeeeeedy

Will probably get them collected. They're all legal but only one i personally would use. They all have tread and the tyre walls had been inspected by ford and they say they're fine. But i wouldn't use them.
