Who here owns a Fiesta ST?

Are you in such a bad area?

I'm with Elephant and mines under £700 with my old man and sister on the policy, fully comp and I'm 22.

I think if my renewal came through over a grand it'd be time to sell.

Am i the only person with a problem of boiling the power steering fluid? Had the steering rack replaced after it broke and that was only about 5 weeks ago, already the fluid is looking quite a dark purple colour... Booked in at ford to see about getting the reservoir moved.

Very common issue. You can relocate the reservoir which helps (jamsport do a hilariously expensive 'kit' which will allow you to do it but this is a far from an elegant solution and is insanely overpriced for what it is - I know, I bought one).

The other options are to put in a pas fluid cooler, by either plumbing in a small oil cooler, or the extended finned pipe section that sits in front of the radiator like the mk2 Ford mondeo has (seen this done on the owners club forum but not entirely sure what parts you'd need!)

Mountune are going to do an underdrive pulley kit which will reduce the speed at which the pas pump operates, as it is apparently the high speed the pump is driven at that generates the heat that cooks the fluid over time.

Yeah, i'm going to see what ford have to say about it.. I've seen people who've moved it over to near the battery, As far as i'm aware it's just two pipes.
Don't know why they put it on top of the engine if the first place though.

Got an RS splitter, carbon mirror caps, full polly bush kit and a power steering relocation kit and cooler to fit this weekend. Spraying my alloys Rover grey soon as I can :). I need a bigger brake kit then soon as my mate books my car in to Chesterfield ford to have the 185 kit swapped over I'll be happy.

I need the following:
15mm rear spaces
Front strut brace
Rear strut brace
280mm rear brake conversion
300mm front brake conversion

Should I spray my light insides and grey plastics or leave them I can't make my mind up.

Im not certain but I don't think Ford or mountune will let you transfer the 185 kit from one car to another - I know that they never used to let anyone do it. The hardware can obviously be changed over but getting the map switched from one car to another was the bit mountune wouldnt allow.

I am hoping they do, I'll have a word with my mate who is sorting the swap out. If they not I'll just ask a tuner to remap it, surely they can map it to the same performance?

Yeah AMD or jamsport (not that I'd recommend them) could do a custom map for it, probably be around 500-600 or so. The generic map they'd do for a car with induction, cams and full exhaust will be for cosworth spec cams though, the mountune cams are a different profile so a custom map will be much better.

Not sure how well your car will run with mountune cams though and the standard map (if you plan to get the hardware fitted and the mapping done later) you get a lumpy and slightly erratic idle even with the mountune map, so its going to be dodgy without, it might not even run properly. I would ideally get the cams in and map it straight away!

Right had a word with my mate and the money I would save buying his 185 kit would be spent on a custom map, so I think its not going to be worth the hassle. So I have booked my car in at Chesterfield Ford (Mountune Pro Dealer) to have the full 185 kit fitted brand new :D. I so cant wait !! :D.

How much has it cost fully fitted if you don't mind me asking? How long does it usually take to fit after you've ordered? Thanks.

Just rang up my insurer and it looks like all the mods i want to do don't increase the price of my policy at all. All that i need to pay is a £17.50 admin charge, may swell put future mods on that as well then. Cool.

Folks, a question....anyone ever ran ET38 wheels with 12.5mm rear axle spacers?

I have done something stupid and badly kerbed two of my wheels so need to get them refurbished, Rimfurbish can lend me some wheels to go on so I can use the car in the meantime but they are a different offset to what I have on there...am slightly concerned it will rub at the back with ET38 and the 12.5mm spacers! I'll only be on the temporary wheels so I can take the car home (I don't really need to use it much, can just get the bus to work) but obviously need something that fits, ideally without having to faff with the coilovers.

I'll get some soon, been a bit fed up with the car of late, nothing to do with the way it actually drives (which is fantastic) but the little annoyances and constant expense...clutch issue (fixed), kerbed wheels (may touch up and leave until the spring unless rimfurbish can sort me out some loan wheels that fit okay), losing a wheel centre cap a few days before, a slight knock from the exhaust over rough surfaces....little things that would not bother others but I am picky, more so given the previously mint condition and the money and time spent keeping it that way.

I have a long drive to the Welsh coast on Friday though so hopefully the appeal will return!

Ever since i've had my ST it's made a very faint "cricket chirping" noise from the engine bay. Not sure what it is and if i should be worried about it. Should i take it into the garage to have a look at?
