Who here owns a Fiesta ST?

Like this

It's at all times. Not that noticeable but can be heard with the windows down and hedges either side of the car. Around 30 seconds in.

Just spent half a hour on phone to Skyinsurance.

That quote is for fire and theft as they wont quote me comprehensive because i am under 25. Didn't even know i was driving around on fire and theft as they never actually sent me my insurance papers when i changed cars over. I am sure i asked for it to be fully comp when i changed the cars over...

Gets worse...

Can't believe it lol...

Yeah i have tried a lot of other insurers.

Going to wait till Monday and ring a company called FluxDirect as they seem to be quite reasonable with there quick quote system.

My problem is that i use the car for business use and have a PC30 driving conviction ( which has no effect with sky insurance). Sky insurance seem to be taking wee though with my renewal quote. I am having tiny bit better quotes for fully comp from a fair few insurers, so i will be changing insurance.

Still can't believe i have been driving a ST around on 3rd party lol, suppose it is my fault for not chasing up the change over papers.

Keep mentioning about getting rid, but it wont happen! :p

I don't understand why they are taking the mick with your insurance.

I checked how much i was paying and i'm paying £630 fully comp and 22 years of age.

I dunno either, checked peoples insurance prices on the ST forum and they average out about £700 for 21-22 year olds.

Im 22, 3 years exp, 2 ncb (more than most on ST forum)

Guess Chesterfield is classed as a war zone on insurance peoples computers. Though saying that, my postcode is only a B risk on that insurance area site.

Leave Skyinsurance on the 25th and join Adrian Flux. Got it for £1547 fully comp with unlimited miles and all mods declared.

would have prefered it to be lower but **** happens. Though that figure is 25% cheaper than the next cheapest quote. So can't argue really.

Insurance is crap at the mo, I keep changing between specialists... chris knott to brentacre to chris knott to sky now, just got insurance on my Civic Type R I'm collecting Sunday (sorry lads, didn't go for the ST in the end!) and it's gonna rob me 600 quid and I'm 30! Sky just beat Flux and Aplan but it still feels a lot compared to my Golf.

I would cry paying 1500 quid, thats a lot of cash, I can sense your pain mate.

Out of interest, i've seen comments made on the net that a Catback exhaust and a K&N induction kit add around 10bhp each to a fiesta ST. Has anyone had this done and Is this right?

Assuming it is, that would give the car 170bhp, more than the mountune stage 1 (Which is why i'm finding it hard to believe) For a hell of a lot less cost. Am i right to be sceptical?

Cheers :)

Yes right to be sceptical!

Cat back won't give any power gains worth noting but it may sound better (or just louder, rather than any more tuneful!)

A better mod (for performance at least) than a cat back is a large bore flexi pipe - the biggest restriction in the exhaust is the flexi joint just after the downpipe, being just 42mm on a standard car - the aftermarket ones are 57-60mm so flow a lot better.

Both a flexi *and* a K&N or similar filter setup should see you to 160bhp.

The 165bhp mountune kit seems hard to justify when you think of that on a 'bhp per £' basis, but go and drive one versus a standard car and you'll understand....the drivability and smoothness are far better on the mountune car, not to mention the sound :D.

As for the K&N well it will give more power but I think 10bhp is pushing it, the standard airbox is a hilariously restrictive design so replacing it does result in a car that is clearly breathing better and will rev more happily, but 10bhp is possibly a bit optimistic.

Fully comp all the add ons protected NCB etc on a Civic Type R? Thats good if so :) if on a Fiesta, they're loads cheaper, insurance on one of those was less than my old Golf, came in about 415-425 on most quotes. Group 13 vs 17 and one significantly faster than the other.

But, wasn't fast enough for me without spending loads on it. Good fun little cars though, I was very tempted.

Quick question, one of my mates is thinking of selling his Fiesta ST either Late 2012 or 2013.

It's an 08 plate with less than 30k miles and he is thinking of selling it for £6k

The question is:

Is this a good deal?

By then I will be 21, how much would the insurance be roughly (postcode area C, 0 NCB, first car)

Stupid idea? It's just that he gave me a drive the other day and as a passenger I loved it.

I want one now :(
