Bought a Alpine unit so started to cut up my dash:

Looks loads tidier than the standard unit and sounds a million times better. Cost £173 for the head unit and £30 for the adapter kit.

Hooked my iPhone 4S up to it and it sounds amazing! Brings the speakers alive!

To those of you with the Mountune kits (just the engine kits, but any of the 3), what did you declare it as to your insurer? And how much did it put up your premiums, if you don't mind me asking?

I am looking to lower my ST by about 25mm just so the wheels fill the wheel arches that wee but better. Will I need to change the dampers or anything or should it be all ok?

well my dampers failed within a year, but most people seem ok. Granted i did do 4 trackdays on them though.

I HAMMER my car on track all the time, if you find some of my Brands Hatch videos you can see me hitting kurbs really badly at some points. This wouldnt have helped my dampers at all.

Standard front dampers are around £60 and rears works out around the same too. I decided to get Bilstein B8s which cost me £440 all in. Miles better dampers.

A brilliant head unit. For example volume 20 on this is like volume 30 on the standard unit and clear as crisp, where as the standard unit would be dissorted.

Thinking of getting a set of Uniroyal Rainsport 2's, are they any good?

I currently using a set of Federal SS595's which are hard wearing but pretty horrific.

What are Apex lowering springs like? I have found a set of Eibach that will lower me down 20mm but they are tad on the expensive side for me atm.

yup, if its stiff, dont push it harder, wiggle seat from side to side and push at the same time, then it comes undone rather than force it and break it like my GF (now ex ) did.

I use T-cut chrome polish from Tesco. £3 and works a treat.

Just attacked it with some wire wool and auto glym polish, brought it up brilliantly. Will upload before and after in a bit.
