Who here owns a Fiesta ST?

Overlag, any ideas on your weird engine sound?

i think it was me just hearing things (no interior atm so can hear lots of noises), however in total ive put 1.75-2litres of oil into the engine, so it was VERY low on oil indeed. Whoops.

edit: for those that don't know, i did the track day, opened my bonnet to check oil level, but ended up taking a group photo instead. After the photos, i forgot to check the oil. I then drove from Snetterton to Great Yarmouth to have dinner, then home to Romford. 4 days later i drove all the way to Nottingham for a funeral, then all over the peak district before coming home. Overall, probably 700-900miles since the track day. Yesterday i realised my mistake, opened the bonnet and there was NO oil on the dipstick. Put in 300ml that i had left in the litre bottle i always keep with me, and that STILL didn't put oil on the dipstick. Bought a 4litre bottle and around 1.5litres of that has gone in to fill the car. Big mistake, could be costly. So a car that takes 4.75 litres of oil was short by 1.75-2litres Scary :(

Thanks again or the update - just one other quick question please? Does this particular unit come with a face off for security issues? Perhaps I'm just being paranoid here but I've had previous cars broken into before for the stereo :(

No mate, but i dont have to worry about stuff like that around here. Just look at my pics to see i have a sat nav in my window 24/7.

If it is a big thing for you, just put a few more quid towards a unit and get either a Alpine or a Pioneer with a removable face.

Can buy covers but anyone with 2 brain cells will know what it is there for.

anyone know how much the top mounts are for the front struts? and the item number?

Mine are rusted to bugger so will no doubt need replacing.

WHOAAA! Groupama hot hatch insurance dont like lowering! £513 on top of my premium and would want 300 and something for the remainder on the year.

Even bloke on phone said that was a joke haha.

No lowering for me :(

Yeah i should just change insurance now, bloke asked me if i want to as loads of other insurers are coming in a lot cheaper.

Means restarting a year and losing the NCB though only 4 months in i paid a £600 deposit and £141 a month. A lot of deposit to lose, though not sure how it would work if i did cancel the policy with the insurer and the company i am paying monthly to.

Mind you i would be most likely jumping ship to a Type R if i did change insurers.

Was just looking at one of these on ebay earlier (interested in something sporty), there are so many people trying to fob of replica st's for real ones.

I ran an insurance quote on one just out of interest, came up as a 1.4 flame. Nowhere on the advert did it say 'replica'.

did it have a 2litre engine though? I know of two Fiesta "ST's" that are 1.4's with engine conversions. One of them run with around 330bhp for a while

its would cost about as much as a ST costs to have that converted to an ST like that.

I go with with genuine ST aswell,

Can see a Fiesta FLame in the picture across the carpark, maybe that is the other car they use and they have now swapped over plates?

Cheers mate.

Seeing as I know you do a fair bit of modding yourself you'll probably be able to answer me this - how easy is it to fit springs (bearing in mind I've not done it before) or is it something best left to a garage mate?

The front struts can be a pain. Heard a lot of people who have had a attempt at it and struggle with the fronts. Leading to the garage in the end.

Personally i wouldn't attempt them my self as i don't have a decent set of spring compressors, plus i have a mate who would do the swap for £35.

To be fair though, there is no wrong way of doing it, only a right way. Can just be ******* hard to do though.

Go over to FFST, they'll be a tutorial somewhere on there and see what you think of it.
