Who here owns a Fiesta ST?

If you buy wind deflectors I recommend you go for the light smoked ones, rather than the darker ones....the dark ones look better especially if you have privacy glass, but I found they were so dark that they noticeably restricted visibility past the A pillar, annoyingly so when approaching roundabouts.

It may just be me being fussy, but it was enough to make me get rid quickly... I suppose I would have got used to them, but they squeaked around the windows too which sealed their fate!

Overlag - as for MR200..... Well it sounds utterly utterly epic for a four pot (I will get some videos soon), but I'm not convinced it truly adds 15bhp to everyone's car over the 185 kit. My car did 194bhp at powerstation with stage 2, then I've dyno'd it twice since going to stage 3, again both times at powerstation - first time got 201bhp, second got....194bhp. There was no apparent reason for the lower run, but my tyres were about 5psi down from what they should have been, that's my excuse!

Drivability is improved in that it picks up better from low revs, so easier to cruise in higher gears at town speeds, less need to change down the gears, and much better pick up from low revs rather than the cammy feel of the 185 which I thought felt slightly gutless unless you were in exactly the right gear or properly giving it some beans.

Like the 185 it still won't 'roll' along in traffic with no throttle whilst in gear. It kangaroos slightly less than the 185 but its not perfect, easier to drive around town for the reasons I mention above, but not exactly oem feel - you always know its been breathed upon. Idle is lumpier and more gruff sounding than with stage 2. At motorway speeds the car is slightly quieter than with the standard inlet, unless you're booting it, as the metal inlet 'buzzes' less than the plastic one. The rev limiter is softer, less of a hard cut than stage 2, and you're more likely to hit it as it rushes to the redline even harder than 185.

I really love it, the sound makes it, I find myself booting it just to hear the growl, and it still pops like the 185. Mpg is no worse than stage 2 was. But it is a lot of cash! Being an Essex chap I expect you could meet someone from the forums local who has it, see what you think. I'd offer a ride in mine but its a bit of a trek unless you come past here on a Welsh roadtrip!

Ive been in one, and the noise is just amazing (as you say for a 4 pot), ive chased one around Brands Hatch and been glued to its bumper too ;) Ive been offered a drive in one, and even though im 99% sure i wont mess up its always a worry someone else might hit me!

I'm totally up for getting the inlet, until i look at the money. Sure £900ish and fitted at the HQ which is very local to me isn't that bad, the problem is when I look back at 2011 and I realise ive already spent close to £4k on a Fiesta that's probably only valued at 4k itself! lol. :(

I'm way past trying to be rational about what the car cost me including all the mods....not entirely sure I'd do it all again, I think a focus st makes more sense as a road car and I could have bought one for what the fiesta owes me.

However on the right road, the fiesta is just awesome, its just a bit hardcore rest of the time (heavy clutch, hard coilovers, polybushes, poly engine mounts etc do not make for refinement).

I do think I will run my car into the ground now, or eventually have it as a track car and remove much of the interior. I think I'd struggle to buy a more 'fun' car for what mine would fetch now if I traded it in.

If you think that 900 quid would get you closer to something *a lot* better, then sure, it can't make any sense at all to spend it on mods. But if you'd need to spend another 4k to get a more fun car (and I still can't think of any car under £8k that'd be as low miles and well looked after as mine, have similar running costs and be as sorted for a blast down a twisty Welsh A road)....then the 900 doesn't look or feel so bad?

Get it bought, you only live once. I wouldn't mod any car if I thought too much about it.

I may well end up on the MR200 road...first step on the ladder though is 165 in June. :)

this is exactly what im thinking. I can afford the extra £900-1000 on my car, but cant afford the 10k+ that id need for something i really want and would be worthy of moving to, to be a "upgrade". Sure like you say my car is hardly a "nice drive" now when it comes to just normal driving infact its dam right terrbile, but on a B road blast or on track it far outguns anything else around except for Supercars or Caterham's etc etc.

My other option is buying a £1-2k Mondeo Diesel to use on my long sight seeing trips and like you say, stripping the fiesta of *ALL* weight. 185 and some weight savings is plenty fast enough. hmmm Im just going around in circles!

Insurers are crazy. I'm obscenely lucky with my insurance at being able to keep it up £500 fully comp.

The strange thing was it would cost me more to insure an old V plate 1.4 Zetec Fiesta over a ST or Metal.

Because more chavs/boy racers got hold of the 1.4.

My insurance for the VXR was 1033 fully comp, 10k miles, 2ncb and 3exp which is very good. Well that is until I added business insurance and it shot up £600... Another cost out of my pocket for this job.

Mine was 1500 for the fiesta. Get calculator out! Wish I could just go get a normal cheap car as it would save me a fortune every month. I know after a week of driving a Eco car, I would throw my self into a bridge out of pure boredom. I love my driving and that's why I pay a high premium to drive.

One day it will have to stop though, with the rising prices. Want a R34 skyline before I decide to be sensible and turn into a hippy :)

For those who are members of FiestaSTOC, can anyone of you point me in the direction of a thread which explains how you take the front grills off so you can paint them? I've looked in the Technical Handbook without much joy. I'm after a guide with pictures rather than just text if possible.

Also seems like plastidip is back in stock. Is that all I need to paint my plastics? Can of this and nothing more?

So I lost a wheel centre last week and got one from ebay. Back home tonight and the 2-day old one has gone too! How annoying. What can I do to stop this? The clips obviously aren't gripping right on the wheel.
