Who owns a Golf GTD / GTI / R?

Check the price of the GTE on your company car scheme, it was £700 a month on a 2 year lease when I ordered my GTD, now it's reduced to £360 with both lease providers... would have saved me another £100 a month as the tax is only £55ish!

(that's £360 by salary sacrifice)

Just had a look on one of the two providers we can choose from and the GTE is about £365 on there, would work out about £275 a month all in after the tax saving on salary sacrifice then adding on the BIK.

They don't come with Discover/Pro as standard though.

That may be why I heard knocking coming from the rear last night on my GTI. Will get VW to check when it's in for a service soon.

Thee GTi/GTD now come with discovery nav, keyless entry/start and the winter pack as standard.

The R is still left without these but you can spec app connect for £100 which allows you to use Google Maps from your phone on the stereo system along with all the music apps etc.

Yeah, this is a great deal atm, the tax goes up a bit in year 2 while the diesel will drop 1%, but still works out a lot better. I was really after one of these but all the plugin hybrid prices were way over inflated until recently.

I never noticed this post before! That's a bit annoying when I have a month old one without any of those options, grrr!

Bit of advice guys, I'm looking into buying a Golf but unsure what model or engine to go for. I currently do around 6000 miles a year that's including travelling to London( 200 miles there and back) once a month, so petrol is my main option. I'm looking at buying as new as possible with a budget of £15000max. So any ideas would be useful.

Can you be a bit more specific, do you want a 1.4 or an R32?

There are a huge range of petrol golf models but it would help to know a bit more detail. Only doing 6k, I'd be looking at very late MK5 R32's, or mk6 GTI's
Due to the mk6 R being so rare, they still command a price above your budget.

Was at Bristol Volksfest this weekend, surprisingly few modern Golfs there actually, in fact I'm not sure I saw any beyond mk3 which is odd as usually there are newer ones.

Mine was on the Mk2 OC stand, both days next to an original 16v.

Now that it's back on the road and driving well I've got various things I want to do to it but mostly I'm just enjoying that it's properly usable again. :)

I have a Neighbor who I assume works for VW as every week he has a new car.

He currently has a VW Golf GTE Estate, which I must admit looks very nice. I am 90% sure I will be keeping and running my A4 as a company car now however if the company does eventually insist on my changing this will be very high on my list of cars.
