Why are Evri are so absolutely abysmal?

Currently Evri and Yodel are absolutely swamped due to the Royal Mail strikes - I have contacts at both and apparently there’s stacks of parcels building up in all corners presently and I’ve been told not to bother using them.

FedEx and DPD are also feeling the strain according to the local Facebook group, with both having parcels kicked back several days on more than one occasion.

Fun times!

Can definitely see this, I'm overdue a parcel from RM due last monday, DPD due last Wednesday (both of which have dropped off the tracking) and an Evri panel today has failed to show. Going to be carnage in a couple of weeks with people ordering for Christmas.

Yep, all my deliveries from various different couriers have gone to **** since last week.

Is the whole uk mail delivery network breaking down?

DPD have their bad days as well. The company i work for uses them to send our goods. We have a one hour window for collections which is the same time every day Monday to Friday. They never collected Monday or Wednesday and might not have even collected today. There are missed collections every week.

Oh wow, yeah I guess they all have their bad days. I've never had 1 bad encounter with DPD so far

I too have found DPD to generally be the most reliable.

The only recent issue i remember is a seemingly new protocol whereby if you are not in, they take it and leave it at your local DPD pick up place....but mine is a 10 minute drive away.

This was on the first delivery as well. I am sorry but if i ask for something to be delivered, I would expect at least a few attempts before they leave it a 10 minute drive away somewhere.

Fortunately I contacted their customer service and they managed to stop it and redeliver - so the fact they solved it was good in itself.

The hour window is immensely helpful as well. I never know when RM are going to turn up with my stuff. Can be 8am or 4pm, or anything in between, and it always seems to be completely random which can make planning to be in for things difficult.

Im having things ordered and coming from Royal Mail take a week and a half to come or more at the moment.

I must hold the record, Special Delivery took 2 and a half weeks, no help, no explanation, no sorry, no tracking updates for about 15 days solid

I remember I was once sent a photo of a front door with no response not delivered with it. I contacted DPD straight away to say he went to the wrong address and they asked how I know. I said well you can see the reflection of my door in the window of my over the road neighbours door that is in the photo.

30 mins later the driver turns up with my parcel.

I just had this.

Initially was informed my package was going to be delivered tomorrow, and of course they attempted delivery today...while I was out.

Luckily the pick up place is a few minutes bike ride away, so not too bad.

I do find it annoying that this seems to be the default. The default should always be a re-delivery attempt unless i change that. I appeciate they cannot always redeliver, but at least a few attempts is reasonable before it gets left for collection somewhere.

Yeh, I've only got to pick up a shaver, so can stick it in my backpack.

What if it was a larger, heavier item, like a microwave?

I don't have a car, so I'd be stuffed.

I've had a parcel that appears to have gone missing with Evri, arrived at their depot 2 Sundays ago, and Tuesday last week my tracking just says we're sorry your parcel is delayed, we're working to get it delivered the next day.

What I don't understand, is with a system that probably automates a lot of this, why it's not flagged up for a manual review after say 5 days. They can then get a team to have a look around the depot for lost parcels, and if they can't find it confirm it lost. Instead the onus is left to the customer to do the chasing.

But alas it is Evri after all. You can change your name, but you can't change the **** service you provide.

Tried to contact both yodel and evri about my parcel. Both useless.

So my parcel is sat with no delivery date, it could be next week. It could be weeks. Its probably never.

How can they not have an estimated date?

Probably lost isn't it.

Problem we have out our way is that with them paying their workers ‘per delivery’ they struggle to find anyone who wants to do deliveries in rural locations when they can get more deliveries done in less time somewhere more densely populated.

Got them coming 2-4pm today. At the moment I'd rather have them deliver than the Royal Mail! At least I have the faint hope it's actually out there for delivery...

Is your Evri one between on its way, and out for delivery? But hasn't quite made it to out for delivery.
