Why is it that I can guzzle down food almost all day and not get fat?

Reason I am asking is. Over the last few days. Sun to today, Wed. I have ate and drank ( I have worked it ourt too) 12lbs of edible food stuffs. I ahve not but on 1 ounce in weight. I work out at work, basicly working. Thats pretty energetic and demanding.

Obviously it is calorific that determines whether you put on weight or not. If you eat 100kg of celery a day you are not going to put on weight are you?

I would certainly agree that most peoples idea of 'a lot of food' is rather uninformed. You only have to look at endurance athletes putting away 5000-10000 kcal a day to see what a lot of food really is and how difficult it actually is to eat that much.
 
Lol Angus you had 10 plain Weetabix a day with Goat's Milk as your main food source?

That is real torture for your taste buds even keeping that up for a few days.

It's usually 7 or 8. :p

I really like Weetabix though, it tastes great, and being lactose intolerant limits my choices somewhat. I prefer Weetabix to bread as it is healthier.

I used to eat constantly as a kid, but didnt realise how much exercise I was really getting in order to balance that. Now of course heading into my mid thirties I have had a hell of a fight to regain what could be considered a 'waistline' rather than 'the equator'

When you are young you can eat what you like and drink what you like, but then you reach that age... 25, 26... then your muscles give up, wave a little white flag and suddenly your a fat *******.

Cant remember where I heard it, but its a fair comment I think.
 
Obviously you have a naturally high metabolism and the fact that you bike for an hour a day helps burn the calories you are taking in.

EDIT.. and you're 16

Im 6ft and i weigh 11 stone 1 pound and going by my paratrooper training book i should be for my height 10stone 8 pounds to 11 stone 4 pounds :)
To me i think i look quite skinny and even my mates yesturday commented on it. I just cant believe where im hiding it, do you think its to do with my running and going to the gym?
I eat basically this pretty much everyday apart from Dinner and Supper which varies:

Breakfast:
cereal a bowl of cheerios
1 pouched egg on toast
1 glass of apple juice

Work lunch box:
2 sandwiches with ham, lettuce and cuccumber
5-7 lumps of pronnes
small handfull of grapes
1 muller light yogurt cranberry flavour
1 breakfast bar apple and yogurt flavour
1 red apple
1 pot of seeds
half a litre of orange squash

Dinner:
Fillet Steak
Potatos
mushrooms
celery
spring onion
lettuce
glass of orange squash

Supper:
Chicken soup with 2 bread rolls
1 glass of orange squash

Snacks throughout the day:
1 packet of crisp, but i only eat that when im not working so maybe 1-2 a week


Anyway thats pretty much all i eat am i eating enough or am i starving myself?
 
Today i've eaten....................nothing. Probs wont have anything major till tea time, just trying to detox at the moment, drinking pure loads of water and then having a nice tea. Might have a home made smoothie for dinner or something.

You're a young teen who exercises regularly, of course you're not going to put on much weight. I was the same, as was almost everyone I knew at the time.

i have 1 egg everyday but its poached

and i dont have steak everyday mate just 1-2 a week, i just gave that as an example for my dinner, as i have something different all the time :)

Defo, as soon as I got to my 20's everything I eat 'shows'!
Either enjoy being a teenager while you can, or get into a good habit fast!
 
I love having a high metabolism, especially when I know it is genetic, as my brother (4 years my senior) and dad (55) both eat far worse than I do, and both are still slim.

I do little exercise, and now that I am not physically fit, but at the same time I have very little body fat :D

Well yeah, if you want to stay 11 stone.

I weigh a lean 17 stone and have to eat far, far more than that nearly everday, so if want to get bigger, eat more and lift very heavy stuff. If you want to get bodybuilder type big, go to the sports section. If you just want to get big and strong (or infact want to change you physqiue in any way), got to T-nation and check the forums there.
