Windows 10

Not sure if this will be an issue or not.

Logged into win 7 machine yesterday and noticed win 10 reservation thing and went through process putting in my outlook.com email. Lovely. Said I had reserved my copy.

Fired up Win 8.1 pc, which is linked to my outlook.com account and noticed the little reserve win 10 icon. Opened it up and instead of it asking me to reserve my copy of win 10, it just said congrats you already have your copy reserved. :/

Hmm Not sure if that means I will only get one copy or two. I did run it a few times on the win 8.1 machine and finally it did seem to process something then say congrats youve reserved your copy.

It better give me one each!

this is because you used the same e mail address for both PC's. on your windows 7 one cancel the reservation and then do it again using a different e mail account

on the windows 8.1 PC use your outlook.com e mail address.

the reservation sees that the 1 e mail account has been added to their upgrade list so its one copy per e mail address (im guessing). if you had 3 windows 8.1 devices it would say the same on all three as you are using the same e mail account to loin to each device

My pc has successfully reserved but my lads hasn't shown the icon yet. I've check that its got the KB installed - does anyone know if its a staggered rollout?

Windows 8.1 Pro - activated

remove and re install the update, fixed it for another user

i think if all the computers are logged on with the same email address then it won't ask for a email address on each computer, but all the computers will still receive the upgrade..

That's what happened here and they will all get the update.

If it's on a domian you have to manually install it from windows update. So I read that as you can't pre book it, not that there's much to gain from that.

It should be alright. Im hopig it registers the machine/serial num. Which would be unique in both instances.

It uses the installations license key.

I have 2 questions people in here may have the answer to:

Has anyone with Windows 8.1 with Bing (i.e. a HP Stream 7 tablet) got the update icon?

Has anyone who is running the Windows 10 Preview, having installed it over an existing Windows 7 or 8 install (I.e. not a clean install from an ISO) got the update icon appearing in Windows 10?
