Windows 10

Not sure if this has already been posted yet but Windows 10's IE11 and Edge browsers block your access to certain sites. It's not the ISP, it's Windows 10. The site works perfectly in Chrome and Firefox but when I try in ie11 or Edge, I get the error:

Access to the websites listed on this page has been blocked pursuant to orders of the high court.

More information can be found at www.ukispcourtorders.co.uk

I won't be using their own browsers if I do decide to "upgrade".

Will the Windows 10 upgrade allow you to do a clean install or just upgrade?

But what if you want to do a “real” clean install?

Microsoft tells me that it will be possible to do so. And that a key part of this process is that it will save a product key tied to the previously upgraded PC or device in Windows Store. This is how Windows 10 will later know that the install is allowed: It’s “one of the benefits of the new delivery system,” a Microsoft representative told me.

This suggests that Windows 10 install media will be made available to upgraders, much as Microsoft today makes Windows 8.1 install media available for download. But I haven’t yet confirmed that this is the case, but I will do so.

Also, while Windows 10 will be a free upgrade during the first year, what about those people who don’t have eligible machines, like those with VMs or whatever? What is the retail price of Windows 10?

In addition to the OEM versions of Windows 10, which are aimed at new PCs, Microsoft will of course offer retail and electronic versions of Windows 10. And the pricing is the same as it is for Windows 8.1: $119.99 for Windows 10 Home, $199.99 for Windows 10 Pro, and $99.99 for the Windows 10 Pro Pack, which you can use to upgrade Windows 10 Home to Pro.

Are you with BT...?

The point being its tied to the PC or device. My concern is what happens when that changes i.e. you make hardware upgrades to your PC. As far as I can tell the free upgraded win 10 is gimped after a year so to a frequent hardware upgrader its next to useless.

I fully anticipate that it will be installable by media probably as a clean install from the upgrade date in july. I would expect to see some kind of downloadable ISO file from MS same as you can get with Win 8.1. Then I assume you install with your old Win 8/7 key and for the period of the 'free' upgrade that will work fine. After the year is up that stops working and you've got a shiny coaster for your coffee mug and you will need to go drop $200 for a copy of win 10.

Windows 8.1 with Bing does qualify for a free upgrade, but it doesn't look like we get this early reservation option. I expect the 'with Bing' version might come later, like the RT and Windows Phone versions of 10 are going to

Bing is already getting the chance to reserve.

This is my tablet -

That seems to be good news :)

I was worried that the tablet might not have met the criteria for the upgrade for other reasons.

Tryingto run the technical preview in virtual box. My cpu does not support virtualization technology, which is why i think it keeps failing.

However, Ive run win 7 and xp vms before.

Any other software i can use to get round this issue?

Wouldn't it be better to do a reinstall rather than an upgrade? I hope the ISO's are available for download and we don't have the whole windows 8 key doesn't work on 8.1 fiasco again.

I wanted to ask for anyone who knows this... is it true that I can play my xbox one games on the PC in windows 10? I Know there bringing xbox live and all that to windows 10 but is it as easy as it sounds that I can play any game I own on the xbox one on my windows pc?

I wish people would engage their brain before typing.

Think about what your saying. Are you seriously suggesting that in July 2016 Microsoft are going to block almost every Windows 10 product key in the world, and simultaneously take away peoples 7 and 8.1 keys too? Really? With not even a hint of that in the heavily scrutinised terms and conditions of the upgrade?

If Microsoft were planning on holding the entire Windows computer market to ransom do you not think people would have spotted it?

Your panicking. You have read a statement designed for the masses (referinging to "devices") and then applied it to your minority situation and assumed a load of rubbish.

You'll be able to stream Xbox One games from the console to a Windows 10 PC.

Yep. Is it the PlayStation TV that allows you to stream PS4 games? You can stream PC games to another PC using Steam as well. So MS are actually a bit late to the party with this one :p

Good news when the misses wants to watch Come Dine with Me :D

So how does that steam stream work? If I had a real low spec PC upstairs can I stream from my gaming rig and have the power of that coming through to the low spec PC? Sorry for the noob questions. What would I need to stream?
