Windows 10

Running Windows 10 Enterprise X64 (Build 10240), it's awesome. Fresh install.

Latest Nvidia drivers give that weird mouse bug and glitching but I expect Nvidia will fix soon.

Such a fast OS, like the style, Icons, menus etc. Haven't even bothered with classic start this time. Have the default setup setup really well.

I'm surprised that I like this so much tbh, thought it would have problems etc. I think 10 is best OS yet.

Whats the actual advantage of having Enterprise?

For the moment, and 'officially', yes. Microsoft have removed the ability to Activate an ISO install, and taken down the Windows Update process to go from 7/8.1 to 10 Preview.

I can install 10162 over Win 8.1 as an upgrade no problem and it activates and works fine. It will not update to 10240 though ?

It's an 'ESD' file taken from Windows Update, untouched. You need the latest ESD Decrypter to convert the ESD into an ISO. Then you can use Windows USB tool etc to create a bootable media to install from or burn to disk.

That's what I did but it won't activate even if you upgrade from 8.1. .?

10162 still not updating:(

looks like I'll get the esd/iso and try that way later...

Also just noticed serious stutter with mp4 videos :(

Cast to TV is fine but in windows 10 stutters and freezes like nobodies business... :( HP Split notebook.

Just built a PC using old/spare parts, how would i go about installing Windows 10 insider preview on this machine? Its got no OS on it, however i have Windows 10 10240 on my main gaming machine.

Well - I ended up having to download the Iso (torrent) for build 10240 and did an in place upgrade from build 10162, all seems well so far.

Will have a play.

As far as I can tell there are no new activations for new machines being accepted for Windows insider. You can install it from an ISO if you can get one, but won't be able to activate from a fresh install anymore?

Microsoft Insider said:
We’re very close to the public release of Windows 10 so we’re not onboarding any new PCs to the Windows Insider Program just now

I'm assuming this is Microsoft basically cutting off anyone that now wants RTM but wasn't part of the insider program prior? So is it as simple as saying that if you have an already activated version of one of the insider builds, you're fine - but otherwise you'll have to wait to upgrade from your existing Win7/8 license to get RTM activated?

Yes.

I assume that following release they will open it back up again as the Insider Program shifts its focus to testing enhancements and patches after that.
