Windows 10

Can anyone link to either the ESD or a compiled ISO of the 10240 GB x64 Pro....? Sadly I deleted my system files and Windows Ole etc before I backed up the ESD file.

Thanks

But to clarify, once you have your free upgrade it remains free 'forever'.

its free for the life of the device you install your free upgrade on too. so if you change something like mobo and cpu Microsoft will class this as a new system and you will need to either go back to your old OS before you upgraded or buy windows 10

You only have a month after upgrading to Win10 to rollback apparently.

didn't know that, last I read you could go back to a previous os and didn't know there was a time limit.

so if you upgrade to W10 and after your first year you do a hardware upgrade that Microsoft class as a new device the only option you have is to buy a new key for W10 or earlier OS as you can no longer roll back to your original key with 7 or 8.1.

I call BS on that 1 month thing.

Also no, you wont be stuck as your underlying Windows 7/8.1 license remains untouched, so worst case you will need to reinstall that.

that's what I thought it was.

so at the end of the day if you had a hardware change and you had to activate windows again rather than buy a W10 key you could just re install your original OS

Yes. If you have Retail Windows 7 or 8.1 you can carry on moving that around to different hardware forever. If you upgrade one of those hardware configurations to 10 for free then that won't be transferable, but your 7/8.1 remains as was.

awesome news - updates will be automatic and mandatory (no choice)

Good job Microsoft have never fubared anyones install with dodgy updates .... ever

The Insider Program will mitigate this. All Windows Updates will have been tested on millions of machines before being pushed out to the public.

It's so MS can say to IT dept\companies "we have tested this update on millions of home PCs before you get it".

I'm sure the EU commission will look into it.
