Windows 10

Think I've been smart with dual booting . Wasn't ready to make 10 my primary untill I've extensively tested , updating to proffesional build now . I assume this is final build and my key is legit etc ? Bin scanning comments but just double checking. Any chance of being able to install steam and origin and have them see the same game installs as 8.1? Havnt really used it except disabling cortana and sorting updates every other week to keep up

Windows 10 Professional EN_GB x64 Version 10.0 Build 10240) ISO with fresh clean installed on SSD are PERMANENTLY activated on my pc. The Product Key are Genuine for Windows 10 Professional Edition RTM.

It's so MS can say to IT dept\companies "we have tested this update on millions of home PCs before you get it".

I'm sure the EU commission will look into it.
I guess what they meant by "we have tested this update on millions pf home PCs before you get it" it means that "we" as a home users already tested it and that's why they had throw it away for free to us after seeing what become from WIndows 7 and what success it was, it was obvious anyway otherwise I don't think they would say it.

So now we need to wait for Windows 12 to pop-up in couple of years :D

"We" refers to the Insider Program.

Anyone know where I can get the Windows 10 10240 Professional EN_GB x86 version? US English is easy to get, but I can seem to find the UK one anywhere.

Need it for my old netbook, Windows 10 runs very nicely on on the Atom N270 with 2GB RAM, runs a little bit better than 8.1, and a hell of a lot better than XP did on this old netbook.

So, grabbed the x64 version. I have a Sony Vaio laptop downstairs with an OEM Windows 7 key, upgraded to 8 and then 8.1, the upgrade was successful with settings and showed as activated in Windows 10. I have also run a reset and it is still activated. I signed up for the preview program. Is there any way to extract the key for comparison?

People just like to complain and persist the notion that Microsoft are evil and tricking you.
Heh Yea, I don't go with the "Evil" or "tricking" thing but there is certaintly marketing BS from all OS vendors (even linux), but it's up to the individual to see through that.

I have multi-boot between Windows 7, Linux Mint 17 and Windows 10 Preview, But I've used Windows 10 Preview ~99.9% since I've had it installed.

Only really booted in to the other OS's to check if a problem is software or hardware related.

Which still are home users like me or you who get into the Insider Program and received a free upgrade, am I right mister Skeeter ? ;)

Like I gonna believe it in everthing what does Microsoft says.

Windows Insiders are getting a free copy of Windows 10 as a thanks for testing and agreeing to test. That's what I thought anyway? No doubt the insider program is opt in and not mandatory. General user updates will be mandatory as they will have been tested by people on the Insider Program, if you don't agree with bug testing then reread what the Insider Program is about.

Same here. I had an update (10240) flash up this morning, and after rebooting I have a fully activated copy of Windows 10 professional with no more desktop watermark. Win. :) Shame it's on a 10 year old Athlon x2 haha. It runs OK though to be fair.

I think Windows 10 insiders need to be upgrading from Windows 7 or 8.1 to get a free, fully activated Windows 10 RTM.
But...
I've heard from a good source(I think from a Gabe Aul Blog Post), that if you are on the insider program and wish to stay on the insider program (Take forced beta updates) then you can remain activated even after the RTM on the 29th, even if you are not upgrading from a previous Windows Version.(I.E, you did a clean install when you first started on the insider program)

If you were not previously on the insider program, you probably can't join now, and if you are an insider you will probably be required to use a Microsoft Account login.

So basically, to get free Windows 10 without upgrading from a previous Windows version, you need to have been a Windows 10 insider, remain on the insider program and accept the earliest of updates.

So you will be a poor Guinea Pig, or a God on the bleeding edge, depending on your outlook.

My windows 10 professional is clean install without the need of product key (skip twices on the product key screen) and it was already activated even without microsoft account sign in. Because the activation server knew my machine was already activated for Windows 10 from Windows 7 upgrade.

Hi BD,
I don't know if you were replying to my post, and or my post wasn't clear. I wasn't trying to imply that a clean install wasn't possible after an upgrade from Windows 7 at some point.

My first install of Windows 10 preview was on a newly formatted partition (in fact, a completely separate drive from my Windows 7 or other OS). It never had a chance to glean any product key or activation status from a previous OS.

Just stating that there is (allegedly) a way of keeping an activated Windows 10, if you have been on the Windows 10 Insider Program, without having updated from a previous OS at any point. :)

As I said above, I now have a fully activated Win10 Pro install. I installed the original Win10 beta release on a blank SSD which had previously housed a Linux installation. No other versions of Windows involved. I still have a fully activated end product. :)
