Windows 10

Anyone using a SB XFI with windows 10 ?

Im using PAX drivers... I assume there's going to be some windows 10 ones?

I best have a google before the 29th.

I think I am (or at least was)? Does that mean I get a free or discounted copy? I didn't stick with it though and have lost the licence key that was issued.

Insiders will be able to continue to run beta builds after the launch of Windows 10. Like the Preview builds these are free and don't require an existing license.

Basically Insiders can run a pre release install of Windows 10 Pro for free.

i won't upgrade to 10240 from 8.1 then. better to wait till 29th>

From what I have read if you have registered for the upgrade from a genuine version of 7 or 8.1 before you install 10 preview your Win 10 install will continue and not require a key. You also have the option of opting out of the insider program as well.

I had installed one of the earlier builds of the Preview release ISO (official) and all was well with the activation. I then decided to do a clean install of the 10240 build on an empty SSD and found that it would no longer activate.
Skipping the entering of a product key (twice) and then just entering my Live account details is not enough this time to acquire activation.
It is telling me that the product key which has been listed here for activation has been blocked and changing that to my own licensed 8.1 key is not being accepted.
Not much surprising on the above and it is only a few days until it is due to go live anyway and things should then be different.
I'm not bothered about the KMS method at this stage.
Booting back up to 8.1 and checking that my reservation of W10 is ok comforts me that it will be fine for the 29th+, or soon after when it is offered.

I don't like the idea of automatic updates without the ability to disable them, for me updates can often bring more problems when everything was perfectly stable so why update and break something because Microsoft says we have to?

I'm also sure there are people who have limited data plans who probably don't want updates either so again Microsoft is forcing it on people. While I am not on a limited data plan I can see how this presents a problem for many others.

im guessing the insiders will test the updates first before rolling them out to the public.

today I was thinking of doing the following.

install windows 7 64 bit retail on to my PC, once installed download the iso for 10240 and run this to upgrade to W10 then I take it W10 will stay activated and move on to the final release on the 29th.

am I correct is thinking this will work or am I missing something? (im not on the in sider program, do I have to be to do the above? as I don't have a Hotmail account)

My Windows 10 activated fine using the KMS method.

It's only a test though on my spare SSD, still going to wait till the end of the month to activate with my retail 8.1 pro key.

I do like 10 more though, seems a more refined 8.1.

Start10 works great too in getting my start menu how I want.
