Windows 10

Just farting about with 10 now on my newly acquired NUC and it's a hell of a lot smoother than when I was farting about at work with it!

nVidia control panel doesn't work for me in Windows 10 for some reason so had to go back to 8.1 else SLI couldn't be enabled.

Other than that it was pretty good.
Wish the start menu was more customizable but I guess Classic Shell has spoiled me.

I cant remember but I think you had to force the Store to close in task manager to get SLI enabled. Had the same problem but got it sorted.

Anyone managed to get CPU-Z working?

I can't install it, Program Compatibility Assistant keeps blocking the install even though I've disabled the service, disabled it in GP and rebooted.

Tried this myself earlier, just says compatibility issue, no solution available, check back.
Still a work in progress, bound to be some software issues.

Have you simply tried a fresh install without installing from windows?

I have tried it on a few of my setups and sure, they all fail if I try from inside windows, but they all install 100% perfectly when I install without windows running.

Idiot - I jumped in and assumed you were talkign about Win10?

Sorry... ( backs away sheepishly ) ... Sorry ...

Is it me, or have we had like no updates since that preview build lol?

I'd have expected constant updates, especially on the tablet side of things.

There's been an entire new build since the first preview build... or do you mean since the 9860 build?

Since installing build 9860, I've had KB3008956 and KB3010668 come down via Windows Update. So not 'no updates', but hardly flooding in either.

I guess the majority of fixes and updates are going into new builds as-and-when.

Yeah they seem to be rolling them all up into new builds (think they said 7000 changes between first and second preview builds) rather than releasing them in dribs and drabs through WU.

You are a member of the public so the end of the chain when it comes to updates, there are other internal builds that get more updates but its entirely possible that updates break things on retail versions of the OS, I should imagine that to be even more likely on a beta...

I have this installed on my HTPC and a partition on the desktop. The other week I was watching a vid, when suddenly my HTPC starts shutting down and then begins installing the OS. I wondered what the hell was going on. Then yesterday, I was on the desktop and open Windows 10, get a few updates and then the same thing happens again. Bloody annoying, as I just spent 4 hours coping data from one drive to another and then had to do it all over again. I assume one of the updates triggers this, thus upgrading the build.
