Winter 2024/25 - Cold or Mild? Rain or Snow?

So many trees down blocking all the roads by me, be a good week before their cleared. (Mid Wales coast)
Every main road is closed, people without electric all day, wind is still howling, temp holding at 6C

Hopefully not speaking too soon but despite conditions and a few power line down not many have lost power around me and they've had most of the roads re-opened by around 8pm.

Just got home, apart from the front drain cover having done a runner and the bottom of the garden being flooded everything looks fine.

Been out for a look round with a torch, I was worried the wind might have ripped something off like tiles or telly aerial.

Still blowing like mad.

Early Christmas meet up at my mums was ruined when the whole village lost power due to a tree taking out a line. At first it was a couple of intermittent outages and then it went off proper for around 8 hours. Thankfully the local pub, armed with 2 log fires and a ton of candles, stayed open. Loads of people came in and it ended up a really good evening!

Hello rascals!

18 degrees in Auckland with a thirty percent chance of showers (garden will be pleased) but only rising to a high of 21 today. Winds from the northwest with an avarage speed of 27 - 55 km/h. UV high so get that lotion on.

Just moved into a new build, I can’t believe the insulation, absolutely phenomenal, putting the heating on is completely optional and only needed for an hour or two each day otherwise I’m too hot in the evening.

Yeah it's good for that, until summer comes around and you need to get the heat out and can't.

Ive got a leak in the roof, not sure what the issue is yet, going to try and get up there myself sometime this week if I can get some ladders and stuff. Helped a chap for about 2 months doing some roofing about 15 years ago but that was proper slate not whatever we have. Think its round the fake chimney.

They are lovely in the winter.

Horrible in the summer.
