I wasn't bothered by the lack of battle scenes, the dialogue and story is just SO good.

Indeed, it would only be a let down anyway(compared to what has been done on the big screen).

A game changer of an episode- if the writer was willing to do that then it makes it impossible to predict what will happen next!

Haters gonna hate.

that witch woman was doing some crazy stuff, i wonder if she manages to somehow make the dragon eggs hatch or the "son" inside silver woman turns out to be a dragon, or something similarly crazy.

jamie's forces were trying to fight on 2 or 3 different fronts or something, so it was easy for stark to over power them and snatch jamie.

now this is going to get very interesting. they could kill jamie off. dont know if drogo will be alive, if he isnt then the horsemen wont attack. unless some magic does happen from crazy with woman.

winter is coming and those monsters will be attacking the wall, what if they get through?

joffrey deserves to die, he is playing the bad guy very well.

apparently the midgets whore, is a real life former porn star too, that means there have been 2 former porn stars so far in the series, you never know jenna jameson might be in season 2.

cant believe they killed sean bean off but its the twists and turns that make a good story.

im guessing now that full scale war is going to happen from 2/3 different sides at once. the baratheons would have teamed up with the starks had eddard lived, but does the secret now die with him?

I believe Stark sent a messenger to Robert's brother. Little-finger entered the room just as he was finishing but I don't believe he knew what it was about. Surely if little-finger had stopped/killed him the messenger we would have seen him do it by now as that happened ~3 episodes ago.

I've actually seen and given Sean Bean a hanshake when he was at the Chatham Fort Amhurst :D:D, he was doing autographs and meet ups with fans during the Sharpe Series. Also met a few other celebs!

Wish i got his autograph now

HBO have really annoyed me this week. The point where Tyrion is about to go into battle with his savages as the vanguard, he gets knocked over and misses the battle.

In the book he is pretty much scared to death but goes in all the same and fights fairly well, even sustaining a pretty bad arm injury in the process. It is this event that leads him to actually getting some genuine respect from his father.

I have no idea what the writers were thinking on this one, sure they've missed a lot of stuff out due to time constraints but I see no point at all in changing this event.

The most well known actor is out this early ? How long do they plan to go on with this?

I really don't think it makes much of a difference is Sean Bean is out now... though I am gutted to see him go. For the last few episodes he has had a clearly diminished role, and the show has relied on the other stand-out performances from sheer talent like Peter Dinklage (The Imp, and imo by far the strongest performance in the whole show), Michelle Fairley (Catelyn Stark), hell... most of the rest of the cast really barring a few who are at worst merely "good".

It's a stonking show, and I really can't wait for more... I haven't been this excited over a series in ages. It's a fantasy fans wet dream.

I think they were thinking "a battle scene here will take us over our already very high budget" ;) Hopefully budgets for battle scenes can be found for season 2. If it makes you feel any better - Tywin doesn't know Tyrion was knocked out before the battle started :p

But we never saw the battle anyway, so I don't see the problem of having a simple scene where Tyrion rides into the battle, a cut to something else, then a cut back a few minutes later with him beaten and bloody.

I know it's a small perhaps pedantic issue but it was the point in the book where things really started to turn in favour of Tyrion, having that based on the pretense of his father thinking he went to battle when he was actually just knocked out takes a lot away from it for me personally.

The battle was covered in the book

I certainly remember Tyrion killing a horse with his pointy helmet.

Edit: Nevermind, I see now what you meant, we didn't see the battle in the show :o
