It will be the last episode though. I would be amazed if they didn't last the entire show. I know you can't kill off every main character, but some are more 'immune' to it than others it seems. Never used to be like that.

Yes you can, I wanted this show to be grim dark where no one won, and thousands died for no reason.

Indeed. It was as though they'd written a list of the most expendable characters and then in big font at the bottom written "MAKE SURE THE MOST PREVELANT OF THOSE CHARACTERS DIES LAST FOR EMOTIONAL IMPACT".

I still think it will be. If they make it a happy ending I will feel cheated. Maybe everyone dies somehow at Kings Landing and there is no one left to take the Iron Throne.

Im pretty sure the NK was of the First Men, captured by the Children of the forest. He was created to help protect against the First Men who were destroying weirwoods but eventually turned on the COF. The NK was eventually defeated by the COF and the First Men which is why he fled north to raise his army.

Yes. It was all shown and explained, even their symbols (which are morbid versions of the symbols the CoF used).

I think people are looking for depth to the WW/NK that was never there in the first place; he/they were never anything more than a magic blunt force, single-use tool that got out of control. In the books, the Others are still yet to be really fleshed out and might prove more interesting... although that's still two books to really introduce them properly AND wrap them up, if they ever get written.

I think this thread proves that it's 100% impossible for them to make an ending that won't massively split the viewers. Why does everyone have to die?! Wouldn't that in of itself be a bit predictable?

Anyway, I'm still hoping Stannis dusts himself off and wins it all.

Aye for sure. I liked the fact that he was this unfathomable evil without empathy or reason.

I thought that some of the cinematography did make it difficult to precisely see what was going on, but you've got to bear in mind that a lot of it is CGI and even if it wasn't, individual scenes would have been replayed and edited, replayed and edited, time and again in the editing room, hours and hours would have been pored into each scene getting it just how the producers and directors wanted it to look.

I found it difficult to see which part of the dragon was hitting the other, which dragon was hitting which, some of the battle scenes between the Dothraki and White Walkers etc. is was visually a bit confusing in some sense, but emotively it worked.

It's not just about what you see, it's about what you feel, and for me that confusion adds to the emotion, with how rapid and fast the WW's are it would have been confusing for the guard of Winterfell, and that conveyed through to the viewer, at least it did for me.

As the episode went on I could clearly see what was happening without any confusion, but did you notice how the pacing changed? It went from complete bezerk and bonkers mode with the rapidness of the WW's and the rapid cinematography to much more slowed down, the white walkers walking instead of running, to the NK just casually strolling about like he owned the place. The music followed suit - in the first battle scenes it was rampant and chaotic suiting the visuals on the screen and then calmed down and went into a beautiful classical edge, reminiscent of West World, the same composer.

I just think it was spectacular. The scene where the trenches wouldn't light with the spell and then right at the last second WHOMPFPH they all go up. The tension was superb, as it was with Ayra and the undead jumping over tables etc. but that lights out Dothraki scene was just exquisitely executed. Never seen TV like it.

Of course everyone doesn't have to die. I just don't want it to be a happy ending though whatever the outcome. Just feels like that is how it should be given the harsh world of GoT. I really wanted Stannis to be a major player still, but I don't think he is coming back even though we never saw him actually die.

The director said conceptually they wanted to switch genre 3 times over the episode to try and prevent viewer fatigue.

To be fair some of the character arcs have been incredible. I went from hating him to rooting for him, but judging from the pole we all have our favorites. I can understand peeps maybe not raving about it and getting into it. But as far as tv series has gone it's raised the bar. Id put money on no one expecting Ned Stark to go that early and some of the CGI locations have been stunning.

I think Jamie will end up killing Cersie. His character has moved so far that I think he loves Brienne and will kill his sister to protect her. Thus bringing it full circle to "the things we do for love" Plus we need more Bronn before season end.

Aye, for all my complaints the damn thing looked incredible!

In the books, the Golden Company are the best around right? So in theory Cersie will now have the upper hand. The dragons will play a major role, which I am not that happy about as I think they are becoming a plot device now.

Aside from the unsullied, yes. They are the most honourable of the 'swords for hire' type companies.
