lolWalcott.

Doesn't deserve a place, not good for his career though :p

He deserves a place, I don't think a starting place, but the option of bringing him on for the last 15 against a tired defence makes a lot more sense than taking Heskey or SWP.

Edit - He can also double up as a striker which could come in handy.

+1

I thought he was a guarantee for the plane, he's useful as a super-sub if nothing else, and if needs-must he's another option through the middle.

SWP is just meh.

Er, just like Lennon was garbage up until he had a few good months this season? now everybody thinks he's amazing for some reason, rather than a previously poor player who had a few months of good form.

If you consider Lennon garbage until his amazing form at the start of the season then I hate to think what word you would describe Walcott as, rotting effluent maybe? Lennon has never been poor, he could always beat his man, something Walcott isn't capable of. His crossing was always substandard but has been improving all the time, and I'd even regard it as 'good' now, hence the 10 assists he got in the league this year.

The polar treatment of Walcott and Lennon is unexplainable, I can't understand why everybody is so forthright to big Lennon up who was consistently poor for years, just 'cos he had a few good games about 6 months ago. The logic isn't adding up for me.

Maybe because Lennon wasn't consistently poor for years, have you considered that maybe your facts are wrong, which is why your logic doesn't add up? Compared to Walcott who literally has never got more than 3 assists in the league over a season, a stat that for a winger is shocking.

I agree with that, taking Heskey/SWP would be absolute madness.

Walcott was already rated above Lennon before this season, Lennon was probably more inconsistent than Walcott!

Walcott has had some shocking injuries since then and Lennon had a few good games, suddenly Walcott is rubbish and Lennon is the second coming. Football fans are very reactionary, the very fact you wrote Walcott off as another Jeffers, when he's 21, says everything. Ridiculous.

p.s. I have no issue with Lennon's spot in the squad, he's deserved it from this season. I think both should be there though, I want the England team to be exciting, not one with Heskey in it.

Its not working so well for me either, is there a particular page I should be looking at the team on? I'm on the News page.

The England squad will be announced on the FA's website at 1600 BST. That is the first official confirmation of anything we've had all day.

How can the BBC announce Walcott isn't in, if they have no proof? Do they have a leak inside? Bit harsh on him if its not true.

By who? People who's only glimpses of him were on the front page of the Sun after he scored 3 goals for England? I rated Walcott highly when he was at Southampton, I've since seen very little progression for all that promise.

Walcott was never suddenly rubbish, he has always been a one dimensional player who relies on his pace. And at 21 with 4 years in an Arsenal shirt notching up 136 games he has made a meagre 16 assists, it is clear he isn't good enough as a winger.

Compare that with Lennon who over 5 years and 190 games has managed 48 assists you can see that for a someone who's primary job is to make goals, Lennon is head and shoulders above Walcott.

I thought either him or someone (agent) had told them. Sure SSN have footage of him on the phone with his hand on his head looking really sad.

Just to rub in the fact your opinion needs realigning, Lennon produced more assists in the league this season from 22 games than Walcott has managed in his previous 86 league games.

There is literally no comparison to be made. :p

Heskey is needed for one thing to hold the ball and be a lump, its the only way to get Rooney scoring, Bent cant do it and is the wrong type of player for the England setup.

Walcott's rubbish and doesn't deserve to go. SWP's is equally as rubbish though and shouldn't go too.

I'd have rather taken Johnson, he's naturally left sided and has been playing well since joining City.

So it's Baines, Dawson, Huddlestone, Parker, Walcott, Johnson and Bent all missing out by the looks of things.
