World first QD-OLED monitor from Dell and Samsung (34 inch Ultrawide 175hz)

I think Fallout 4 was the last game I played which had an issue with ultrawide. If it was 5 years ago then your concerns would be valid, but these days it seems to be very rare that there is no support.

That being said, the 38" Alienware does not have 1:1 pixel mapping for non-native resolutions. It's trivial to enable it in the AMD driver, and something I rarely (if ever) use, but still would be nice too have the functionality if needed.
I believe FF7 Remake does not have it last I checked :(

I play a wide variety really, like fps and third person singleplayer games but the most played genre are fighting games like Street Fighter V and King of Fighters etc so a 16:9 resolution is needed for the games for function properly

Ah yeah them kind of games aren't the best for 21.9 then but as said, at least you can just have the equivalent to a 27" 16.9 1440p monitor and being oled, the black bars will be black.

He hasn't stopped, posting the same opinionated nonsense he posts here in a copy/paste style and then has the cheek to feel offended because it isn't him supposedly.

Wonder what other forums he is on.... :p ;) :D

I don't acknowledge that as a real game anyway, so meh

Edit: didn't the reddit post from the guy who got his over the weekend have a screenshot of the game loosely based on FF7 running on this monitor?

Edit2: yes, yes it does, although I notice the UI elements do seem to be a little bit "centralised"

Yea. Ultrawide is not perfect, but I am happy to make the sacrifice for this monitor. At the end of the day there are a lot of advantages to the aspect ratio also. But if I personally had the option of this or a 32" one at 4K at the same price I would go for the latter for sure. But who knows when that is coming?

My pet peeve with a lot of games for 21.9, all that extra FOV on the sides only to have HUD shuffed right in the centre

Division 1/2 has the best HUD customisation there is, change opacity, size, where each item sits etc.

That's because 16:9 is where its at! :p

On a serious note though. What kind of games do you play? I get the feeling ultrawide is for the online multi player fps crowd which is not my thing. I am mainly interested in single player story driven games.

Personally I think I will be fine playing 16:9 on this monitor with black borders on the side due to there being no distracting backlight in games that don't properly support 21:9.

Ok Mike, whatever you say :p ;) :D

My currently installed ones:

- guardians of the galaxy
- cyberpunk 2077
- metro exodus
- bf 5
- batman arkham knight
- forza 5
- destiny 2
- halo infinite
- riftbreaker
- state of decay 2
- a plague tale innocence
- back 4 blood
- aliens fireteam elite
- 7 days to die
- dying light 2
- valheim
- lost ark
- god of war

Essentially it is good for all kinds of games imo and not just fps. I probably find 3rd person games a better show case for it than fps tbh.

Haha. Nice list. Sounds good. I was slightly concerned as whenever I see a ultrawide screen it is someone playing a Battlefield or Call of Duty game which I have almost zero interest in.

Yeah defo don't be worrying about that. Riftbreaker is probably one of the best on that list tbh, very much looking forward to seeing how that looks on this!

One game I'll definitely be checking out again is alien isolation, deeeeeeeeeeeeeeep blacks

Not played riftbraker yet, might just give that a go if I manage to get this monitor.

To be honest i'd be inclined to say the opposite. Ultrawide gives a bit of a disadvantage due to the relatively lower fps and bigger area to need to look for enemies, whereas for epic single player games it really helps with the immersion

You comparing this ultrawide to 4K? 1440 will drive higher frame rates than 4K.
