World first QD-OLED monitor from Dell and Samsung (34 inch Ultrawide 175hz)

I wonder what Dell did to drop the latency in the new firmware?

I mean I can't even feel the difference but tech speaking at full 175hz refresh the monitor has 50% lower input latency now than on the previous firmware and that's huge
They did - rtings has tested and proven the difference.
Will you able to notice it? Hell no.

Going to be raising a ticket with Dell as I've been having power issues with my 34" QD-OLED last few weeks.

It seems to randomly struggle to power on after being on standby, not sure why. The only way I'm able to get it turn on again is unplug the power and reconnect.

Today it's been a blinking purple light, the other day it was just a blinking white light.

Will see what they say on support tomorrow morning but rather they just replace it.

Anyone had this issue?
yep, it happens randomly

only unplugging helps..with mine it is once every few weeks, so it doesn't bother me

wonder if they could fix it by firmware update in the future

The refusing to power on from standby happened to me on my previous aw34. Back then we could not update our own firmware, so I had to RMA my monitor and they sent a new one which has been awesome. Its either a hardware defect or a bug in older firmware. Update to the newest firmware, I've seen others post online saying the issue is gone after updating firmware

Looking at getting the Msi MEG 342C qd-oled, as it’s currently on offer.

Looks amazing, are there any downsides? I mostly play fps and space/flight sims.

I was going to go for a larger oled, but I think a 34” curved at the optimal viewing distance will give the best experience.

Depends how cheap, iirc it's the 'worst' QD OLED UW but that may have changed with any recent fw updates. Def do your research first.
Arguably Samsung G8 with its mini ports and horrendous CS is a worse buy than MSI. That said, I would just buy Alienware, smooth warranty process is super important on these monitors.
Honestly, I wouldnt buy a comparable monitor from any other manufacturer for this very reason - just as I have never bought a GPU from someone other than EVGA when they were still in business.

Hopefully Dell take note for next gen QD-OLED, because LG have just announced new OLED monitors tat support variable res and refresh rates, one sporting 480Hz at 1080p etc:

The only thing I'm hoping for is better burn in resistance with future gen panels, No interest in gimmicky things like this TBH.

It opens up the floor to having CRT-like variable res support and refresh rates too which would be appealing for a whole bunch of purposes. This also means the monitors would have to have a high quality scaler built in just like how good CRTs did meaning you could have a higher/lower resolution in games or other apps without worrying about degraded picture quality or text clarity like you do currenlty on flat panel displays of all types.
