World first QD-OLED monitor from Dell and Samsung (34 inch Ultrawide 175hz)

Btw not sure if this has been since the firmware update but noticed today what appeared to be tearing, investigated and found that VRR wasn't working, turned on the framerate display in the OSD and played 2 games, no VRR, the box that pops up when you press the OSD button once said "GSYNC: Normal", it should say "GSYNC: GSYNC" - I went into NVCP and had to toggle GSYNC off, apply, then GSYNC on again to force GSYNC to start working again.

Bit weird!

It opens up the floor to having CRT-like variable res support and refresh rates too which would be appealing for a whole bunch of purposes. This also means the monitors would have to have a high quality scaler built in just like how good CRTs did meaning you could have a higher/lower resolution in games or other apps without worrying about degraded picture quality or text clarity like you do currenlty on flat panel displays of all types.
The CRT screen does not have a set number of physical pixels. It uses a cathode ray tube (CRT) to project a picture. It is more "analog" in a way of speaking, and the CRT can be adjusted to create more or less pixels, and it is not projecting into a pre-defined physical grid pattern like an LCD. Cool eh!

A literal series of (ray) tubes :D
I miss those days where you could put any res up the maximum the crt could take and it always looked good. I also miss the DEGAUUSSS we should have the effect just for memories sake! But not actually doing anything .:D For some reason I used to feel powerful as I clicked the button for it on my CRT

And if the degauss button isn't an option, then at least give us CRT screen off animation when the screen goes to sleep! Remember back in the early Android phone days you had that animation when the screen turned off? That was really cool lol.

Actually I wonder if there's a screen saver for Windows that is basically like the Windows black screen one, but it just does that exact animation as it activates...

This does explain a lot. I am guessing he is a good decade younger than us.

Yet somehow condensed twenty years worth of posts in under 4.

Also don't believe that they don't know what that screen is due to claims about not playing live service games (plays Diablo IV, WOW) and also claims to stick to single player games despite playing multiplayer games :D A lot of stuff said for effect.

I disagree with their assessment but it's funny as hell to see them jam games in a CRT. The Ray Tracing thing has nothing to do with it, they've had the screen for a while now, they didn't get it just to suggest everyone should play rayvtracing on a crt tv.but don't get wrong, LCD screens are all junk but that's besides the point, I still wouldn't use a crt.

Yep for sure, older games look like crap on non-CRT displays

etc etc, many such instances.

Bwahahaha. Yeah, that lad does chat out of his backside a lot. Trust me though, it was a lot worse a few years ago.
